Michigan-6
The visiting Gophers are the only Big Ten team other
than newcomer Nebraska without a guard who was a starter
when conference play began in 2010-11. And, they?ve lost
their best forward to injury. Three of Minnesota's
guards - Welch, Hollins, Coleman - played in their first
Big Ten game at Illinois the other night. Compare that to
last season, when they had seniors Al Nolen and Blake
Hoffarber starting and junior Devoe Joseph coming off the
bench. Those kids had 62 combined Big Ten starts, compared
to two conference starts on this season's team prior to
Illinois, a young team in their own right. Michigan?s
1-3-1 zone should cause enough bad decisions for Minnesota
on the offensive end, and Michigan?s ability to spread the
floor and be patient for open looks should cause enough
frustration for Minnesota on the defensive end.
