Boston (Martinez) @ Seattle (Baldwin)

Well the supermen of Seattle meet up with their kryptonite tonight in Pedro Martinez who has had no trouble with the and it is not very often you will get him below -200.

Boston sends Pedro to the mound he has a record 4-0 in 7 starts this year with an ERA of 3.49 and a WHIP of 1.03. The Red Sox are 7-0 when Martinez pitches against the Mariners and he has an incredible ERA of 0.79 with a WHIP of 0.684 in those starts.

Seattle sends out James Baldwin who has really been shaky in his last 3 starts with a 1-2 record and an ERA of 7.23 with a WHIP of 2.04 and now faces a Boston team trying to avoid the sweep. He is 4-1 against the Red Sox but has given up some runs he has an ERA of 5.61 and a WHIP of 1.515.

Offensively the Red Sox are as solid as they come, they are scoring 6.1 runs a game on average against right handed starters while batting .304 with an on base percentage of .400 while they are only allowing their opponents to score 3.7 runs while batting .208 with an on base percentage of .270. The Red Sox bullpen has been solid on the road with an ERA of 2.60 and a WHIP of 1.096.

The Mariners have been scoring well but have to face a pitcher tonight that has owned them. They are scoring only 4.8 runs a game at home while batting .245 with an on base percentage .386. The defense has been solid as well allowing the other team to score just 4.3 runs a game while batting .262 with an on base percentage of .342. The bullpen is one of the best in the business with an ERA of 3.00 at home and a WHIP of 1.206 with 55 k's in 63 innings of work.

Bottom line is the Red Sox and Mariners are two very good teams but I have to back the Red Sox with Pedro Martinez on the hill as he has just shut down the Mariner bats while Baldwin has had some trouble and I don't see it getting any better with Boston trying to avoid the sweep.

Playing Boston -170

Also like Sox. Manny out of lineup with broken finger worrys me, but I also like the fact that the Seattle bullpen is banged up. Best of Luck today. Really value your write ups Robert. Thanks and keep up the good work. :)

Manny being out hurts a little but the Sox have other guys that can hit Baldwin especially in his current form, Baerga .333, Nixon .429, Offerman .306 and Sanchez .412 all lifetime averages against him while the Mariners have shown some vulnerabilities at home and Pedro has had no trouble at all shutting them down and I think that Boston will be able to give him enough runs to get the win. Just off the top of my head not positive but in his last 5 starts he has not gone less than 8 innings against them and can see the same thing here today.
