Temple -3.5 over Lasalle *****
Owls have dominated this B-5 series for the past 10-15 years...Temple just beat Clemson,and Auburn to win their tourney..they return 3 of top starters from last yr and get back their pt gd in Brown back from being out all last yr...he can shoot,pass and penetrate..Austin is their top gd...avg 18 pts..they have rose who is 6'8 and can shoot 3's and rebounds...and their best player is Obi E at 6'10 who can also shoot 3's beside rebounding...they do;t turn the ball over and are deadly at the FT line..LaSalle has 2 scorers in Pookie and BJ..BJ is a stud but LaSalle doesn't have enough around him..LaSalles MO is can't play defense but can score...now they are having a tough time scoring and playing a little better defense..but they haven't faced anybody big yet...Owls will own the bds and have way to many offensive threats inside and outside..and continue to dominate this series..last yr Temple won 97-92 on ot...but Lasalle last yr had Jordan who did everything for them...now Pookie is the pt gd who still can't shoot but dribble drive..Owls win this by 10-15 points..
Texas AM +2.5 over USC *
Small play...TAM played in Germany last week..Brooklyn the other day and now on the west coast..has to have some jet lag...Aggies are the better team but travel might come ito play..Hogg and Davis are 6'9 and 6'10..Gilder and wilson are playing great..then add Williams who is probably 1st team all american...so much talent..USC has Boatwright and Metu inside and McL at gds..I like Aggies because they are more physical...small lean...
Oregon St -10.5 over Marist ****
Beavers had the Johnnies beaten the other nite..led all the way until 5 minutes left and then made some of the dumbest passes and shots at the end...absolutely no basketball IQ on the court..skip passes intercepted for Johnnies uncontested layups..losing their man on the court...but they do have some talent. Tinkle is 6'8 and can play..shoots,rebounds,etc..Eubanks is 6'10 and can score inside..Thompson is a solid gd who is fast ..they have no outside shooters...Foxes have no inside game...Parker who is 6;2 is one of their top rebounders..Parker is a 6'2 penetrating gd who can handle the ball and pass...but he is kind of over weight like a linebacker...he shot 1-7 in there last vs Neb...Foxes have fds that are all white from Iceland,Finland,Norway and Sweden..not racially profiling but they are all 6'4,6'5 and can shoot if wide open..not one player on this team can create his own shot except Parker...they will play a tight 2-3 zone and try to keep Tinkle and Eubanks off the bds...Beavers shoud just pound the ball inside all game...Foxes play about 8 or 9 players but that won't be enough...
Zaga -2.5 over Texas **
If this was an olympic event for the 100,200,4x400,high jump,long jump or what ever Longhorns win every event..but its not...you have to put the ball in the hoop...Texas had Duke and let it slip away..this is a very young and talented team...Bamba inside is a force on defense...Coleman is going to be a great pt gd and Osetkowski is unreal...can score,rebound and a great passer at 6'10..Roach,Jones etc are greyhounds..but Zaga does have some size inside in Tillie and Williams..has the gds to break the Texas pressure..they lost a lot from lyr.. like Perkins for zaga..close game but see the Zags taking this..Mamba is easy to foul out...he is still learning...
