13-12-1 yesterday... dropped 3 and change but damn, sure had some fun:facepalm:
The dogs have been covering a lot of numbers lately in the MAC which makes sense. There is little separation from the conference top dogs to the bottom feeders. Very average hoops at best for the most part.
Ball State +12 (3)
Western has always been a tough read for me. They seem to be really good or really bad with little middle ground or consistency. For that reason I always give them a long look as a dog and to the contrary I hate laying points with them. Despite their record, Ball St has improved and In short , they compete on most days. Now that they are finished with crossover play against the tougher east division they should find the pickings a bit easier with the exception of Toledo. Now, do understand that the Cards are rarely a bargain but IMO this is a big number for the Broncs to be giving up .
Toledo -9 (5)
The Rockets are the one team in the west that can play when motivated to do so. They do toss in a home clunker or two though, most notably vs Buff and Cleve St. so I hope thats not the case today against a Kent State team that is in the midst of a big free fall after a promising beginning to the season. Toledo has a statistical advantage over Kent in every single meaningful aspect. They lead the MAC in scoring margin, rebounding margin and turnover margin. Kent is soft inside and their weaknesses play right into Toledo's strengths. They have five guys that can score and have a little depth to go with them.. If Kent tries to double down on "Spoon" or Pierson Toledo will burn them from other spots. Kent State would be wise to try to slow the game down but thats not their usual M O so who knows if they even try. They are not the best coached bunch for sure. If Toledo comes to play today they smoke the Flashes by 15 +
