Kansas City area for who knows how long....
parlay: NYY and Boston and Cleveland -1.5, and Under Cinci/Pitt

Baltimore/N.Y. Yankees-1:05 pm Wright (Montgomery --Wright a mediocre reliever, he's only starting because Cobb is not quite ready to return. Wright has 8.22 ERA and a 1.435 WHIP here in the Bronx (all as reliever). Present lineup hits .321 vs him in 28 AB. yeah, he'll probably have about the worst outing of any starter today.... Monty's nice new mix of pitches pretty darn effective, but he took a rare loss his first start of the season. I don't see that happening today! In 3 starts vs Orioles at home last season he went 2-0 with a 2.50 ERA and Birds are piling up more SO of late than usual vs lefties....Yankees -1.5

Tampa Bay/Boston-1:05 pm Kittredge (Rodriguez -- Kittredge 11 starts in over 200 appearances in the minors, yep, another bullpen day (is this August?). And that bullpen pretty taxed too....E-Rod had one nice spring training game, he's back from knee surgery faster than expected. The present TB lineup bats .185 vs him in 27 ABs. But he could certainly be rusty and still getting in the swing of things, Sale was going to pitch today, but they decided to make save him for Tues and try and make this first start easier one for E-rod.. and ya know those 7 losses in a row by TB might be coming to a head. ... I'm on the Over, and thinking TB!...well, naw, this TB team so bad....

Kansas City/Cleveland-1:10 pm Hammel (Clevinger -- Hammel with his 5.29 ERA last season pitched well for 4 innings 1st start of season (was vs Tigers tho) then a bad inning. Typical for him. Current Indians lineup is .264 vs him in 127 AB...in 33 AB, current Royals .152 vs Clevinger, He pitched fine in his 1st one of the season, using a lot of fastball location at the edges very effectively, and he got lucky today getting placed with the Rev Dr Ted Barrett calling balls and strikes as he has a very consistent SZ and is the only ump to call 2 perfect games... Cleveland Indians -1.5, just hope those bats can wake up in the cold some, under too...

Cincinnati/Pittsburgh-1:35 pm Mahle (Taillon -- Mahle very nice numbers his 1st start, but not dominant and plenty hard hits. Pit will get to him more than the light hitting Cubs, but this is a pitchers park, I don't expect him to be too bad today....Taillon 5.1 IP, 2 ER, but those runs, right at the end, a bit flukey. He had only 4 baserunners....Pitt and the under

Miami/Philadelphia-1:35 pm Richards (Arrieta -- Prospect Richards didn't showcase much of anything special in his MLB debut, and that the first time he ever pitched above Double-A. He was good in spring training tho. If those Phila bats keep the momentum up, this could get as ugly as yesterday's game, tho really, no team ever follows up a huge outburst like that with another, I see a 6-3 type game... Arrieta they claim will be able to pitch deep if he's cruising. He was on DL due to strained hamstring which hurt his fielding, not his pitching. He will want to show his stuff as he signed a three-year, $75 million contract with the Phillies on March 12. Just 4 guys on this Marlins team have combined 20 AB vs him, batting .150. and Arrieta always like pitching in this park...so I guess Phila on the runline

Chi. Cubs/Milwaukee-2:10 pm Quintana (Anderson -- Quintana, 6 inn, 6 ER and 2K. Jeeze. He did get creative and changed things up a bit, like a good old veteran, to limit damage. I didn't see anything to indicate any physical issues. He should be better today. Should be. He was excellent after coming over from CWS in that trade last July, and was terrific in his first important postseason of his career....Anderson 6 shutout innings, then 3 homers and 5 runs in his last. His velocity was way down you see here, I dunno what to make of that. He should pick up today some, should. But good chance one of these starters won't and will suck, so I'm on the over...bullpens are taxed we see here and Brewers have lost their closer, had to call up a dude from AAA to bolster the relief corps.
