Angels/Royals Under 9 (Ortiz/Ascencio)
Giants -175 (Chacon/Rueter)
Angels/Royals- Neither lineup displaying any offense of late. Angels offense has cooled considerably...Royals offense hasn't done much all year and even less of late. Angels 2-8 to the under their last 11 games, Royals 2-8 under their last 10. Ortiz pitches even better during the day...9-1 to the under in his daytime starts...opponents only hitting .191 against him. Ascenio's numbers a bit deceiving..5.79 ERA but most of that damage was done in one start versus San Diego...5ER in only 2/3 of an inning. Otherwise, he has what could be considered 6 quality starts, not allowing more than 3ER's in any of those starts. He also gave Anaheim a tough time in their previous meeting..5IP allowing only 1 hit and 1ER. If they Royals pen doensn't implode...and they are rested after Byrd's complete game yesterday, the Under should be in good shape.
Giants- Ton of chalk but plenty of factors point to justifying the play. Rockies 14-30 away, lost 4 straight, hitting .201 vs lefties on the road, and have scored 17 runs in their last 10 road games. They just aren't the hitting the ball and when you can't score runs coupled with mediocre/bad pitching..tough to win games. Giants 27-16 at home, won 5 straight, 13-5 when Rueter starts, and are the best post All-Star break team in baseball the past couple of seasons. Chacon doesn't worry me much as a streak stopper.
