sorry, had a monster truck flashback. went 3-1 on sides last week, but had a strong opinion on most of the games. not the case this week. i could easily see both games going either way. but i believe we are federally mandated to play all playoff games.

pitt (+3.5) 3 units. denver caught a few breaks to put away new england last week. pittsburgh generally doesn't make those mistakes. roethlisberger's injury really concerns me though. if he is healthy (relatively speaking, of course) and plays his normal mistake-free game, i think pitt will ride their momentum (and the bus) right to the super bowl. besides... who seems more like a super bowl quarterback... roesthlisberger or plummer? i'll put my money on big ben.

carolina (+3.5) 2 units. i don't really like either of these teams. carolina is pretty banged up. seattle struggled to put away an exhausted washington team. the deciding factor for me is carolina's success on the road. they've gotten the job done away from home all year. goings is a more-than-capable backup. i can't help but think if 2 defensive backs didn't fall to the ground last week, carolina might not even be here, but that is irrelevant. i probably would take points from seattle in this situation with just about any team.

and yes, i am fully aware that pitt and carolina have played approximately 42 straight road games between them, and now both are travelling across country. one of many reasons i don't love either game. i also heard this morning that both road teams haven't won the conference championship game since 1997. and both home teams haven't won SINCE 1996!! holy cow.

a couple side notes... i'd like to send out a big F-U to the nfl for the start time of these games. it's bad enough the super bowl doesn't start until 6:30, but this is ridiculous. if they think 3:00 & 6:30 are such great starting times, why don't they make that the starting times during the regular season? buncha freakin' bastards. :cursin:

do any of these remaining 4 teams remind you of the steelers of the 70's? or the 49'ers of the 80's? or the cowboys of the early 90's? this so-called "parity" sucks. all i see is some very flawed teams who are one game away from the super bowl. pathetic.

ok, one more thing. i'd like all us madjackers to join together and say a prayer. say it with me... "please, dear lord, don't let the refs continue to suck this postseason. amen."
