Funny story: Last night I'm at the Columbia-Yale game in NYC. The place is emptying out as visiting Yale leads comfortably in the final minute. I have the over 155 for 1 unit. I'm with a buddy, who doesn't gamble, but he knows I'm on the over 155.
With less than 30 seconds remaining the game is sitting on 153. Columbia ball, down 13, so you know this will likely be the last shot of the game. if Columbia misses, Yale runs out the clock.
Well, Columbia misses a 3-pointer- which would have cashed the over- with about 17 or 18 seconds left. BUT, Columbia grabs the offensive board. I've got a chance. I'm just hoping for a putback or a foul with two made free throws to give me a push.
Columbia player passes it out to Hickman behind the 3-point line. Hickman lets fly: GOOD!...with only 13 seconds left!
I let out a big "YES!" with a fist pump.
On the way out of the gymnasium (Columbia is like a large high school gym) I'm thinking: this was just like the scene in "The Gambler" where James Caan is in the stands of a college game in NYC and has money on a game. With the location, it was almost the same situation, minus the game-fixing, the bookie after him, the amount of money involved, the gambling addiction, etc. :mj07:
And I didn't walk to Harlem after the game and get in a knife-fight with a pimp and a prostitute. :mj07::mj07:
Good luck today!
