trying to take it easy today after a big day yesterday.

jacksonville (ML) 3 units to win 4.2. this is the first good pass defense that mahomes has seen. the first four are ranked 18th or worse. jacksonville is #3.

detroit (-1) 2 units.
under (49.5) 2 units. this is a huge early-season game for the lions if they want to stay competitive this year. both teams have been quietly effective running the ball, ranking 7th & 8th in yards/carry. and neither team has been all that good at stopping the run. i think both teams are going to emphasis the ground game (you know, as much as anyone does in the nfl these days), which should keep scoring down just enough. i'm thinking detroit wins 23-20.

atlanta (ML) 3 units to win 4.8.
over (57) the falcons are certainly not off to the start anyone expected, and they need to turn things around, starting today. and pittsburgh's pass defense should be just the tonic the birds need. should be a ton of points, and i like the falcons to win the shootout, as they catch pittsburgh off the baltimore game and just before 3 straight division games. and hot, humid conditions may actually favor the fellas from atlanta.

oakland (ML) 2 units to win 4. yeah, the raiders are awful and gruden is an absolute joke, but this is basically going to be a home game for them. the chargers were actually piping in loud music during practice to simulate the environment. i heard (from a very unreliable source) that rivers is going to throw a pick for each one of his kids that's a raiders fan.

arizona (ML) 3 units to win 4.2. yeah, the cards are a dumpster fire, as i predicted back on week one. but this is one of their better chances at a win this year. i like the chances of cj beathard reminding us that he is cj beathard.

la rams (-7.5) 2 units. sure, betting road favs of over 7 points in the nfl is a great way to lose money, but i like the rams to keep rolling today. a win will give them an early 3-game lead in the division. gotta start to wonder how much longer pete carroll will have a job in the nfl.
