2014 parlay record: 8-39, +34.22 units.....on various mixed sports....(1 unit bet each parlay)

Posted here was the first winning parlay of the year, and it was my biggest. Not long after that I didn't post for a few months (the unpredictable ends of NBA + NHL seasons, plus start of MLB, is the worst time of year for parlays), then had this small winner (only paid 1.58 as one game ppd and one total pushed) and Sunday, July 6 three-teamer, and July 14 four-teamer, July 25 4-teamer, with a push, that became a 3 teamer...then this 4 teamer July 29th...and 2-3 on bunch of smaller parlays I tried July 30th..

This will be a very emotional day for the Bills organization as a whole, with the induction of Andre Reed into the Hall of Fame after a 9-year wait. With all due respect to the Giants Michael Strahan also being inducted, and the Giants organization, but the circumstances surrounding the Bills heading into this preseason, and with a large contingent of supporters from Buffalo (3.5 hour drive) making the trek to Canton, the Bills will have as big an emotional edge as you can possibly have in a preseason game.

Bills head coach Doug Marrone clearly stated on Friday they were approaching this game with every intention of winning, and that's a highly unusual statement for a head coach to make this early in the preseason. Besides all of the emotional factors, Buffalo has upgraded its roster during the offseason by adding some dynamic offensive players at the skilled position. The defensive line, and the depth at that position, may be the best in all the NFL.

All 3 of the Bills quarterbacks have starting experience from a season ago, and each of them has a firm grasp of the offense in their 2nd year under offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett's. Play on the Buffalo Bills minus the small number as a free selection.

The Cubs rue the day they gave Edwin Jackson $50 million. He's a perennial gas fire and 2014 has been no exception. The control challenged right is 5-11 on the year with a 5.72 ERA which balloons to a 5.97 ERA on the road and a 6.28 ERA in his L3. He walks a batter for every two Ks and the over is 12-7 in his starts.

Josh Beckett has come back to earth since his no-no. In his last three starts he's allowed 25 baserunners in 13 innings of work and didn't get out of the fifth inning in any of the three. Not a good thing after another marathon last night that saw the pen (both pens) used hard. Both teams had plenty of chances last night but just couldn't convert MISP. Play the Over.

Edwin Jackson is a mess, but the Cubs will keep using him in hopes they can recoup some of their investment. He does have a 3.99 xFIP, but bunches of walks are behind most of his recent struggles. He?ll face a banged up Dodgers unit.

Trevor Cahill draws the Pirates today. He was able to buff his strikeout rate in the bullpen, but it doesn?t look like that will convert back to starting. Without those extra punch outs, his high walk rate will ensure many poor outings to come.

Since returning from the disabled list, Clay Buchholz has thrown one dominant outing and struggled a handful of times. The Yankees have an offense that can be best termed as ?pesky,? so there is upside and downside to stacking against him.

Incredible Stat of the Day
Oakland?s Scott Kazmir is 14-3 in his day team starts (82.3%) the last two seasons, including a perfect 7-0 this year. The left-hander is 3-0 over his last five assignments and has allowed just five earned runs in 31 1/3 innings during the stretch. He defeated Texas in his last outing when he gave up two runs and seven hits over five innings. Kazmir is 4-5 with a 5.15 ERA in 15 career starts against Kansas City.

No Nelson Cruz for the Orioles today.
