Hi all....I am an old member who hasn't posted in a very long time. But I saw this interesting prop bet and wanted to share it here since I am a lurker and have won money recently thanks to many of the posters on this site.

The prop bet is "the opening kick off won't be a touchback" at plus 150 (Caesars Sportsbook). 18/20 of the past Super Bowls have had the opening kick off not be a touchback. Here is an article with Pat McAfee (former kicker who kicked off in the 2009 super bowl with the Colts)explaining why this bet has been so profitable. The reason: Normally footballs are scrubbed and roughed up before an NFL game by the trainers of each team for their respective kickers. But as McAfee explains -There isn?t normally a touchback on the opening kickoff because the ball is a brand new ball?that ball goes immediately to the Hall of Fame right after the kick, so it is not beat to hell and back for 30 minutes by an equipment manager.? He says the ball is basically just plastic and is very difficult to kick a touchback. Not sure what the odds are at the moment but I believe its still plus money.

Anyways - just thought I'd share this.

Another (supporting) reason may be that kick returners are in the game of their lives and the opening kickoff is their opportunity to shine. If there is any chance of a return, they will take it, for example, if it is not too deep in the endzone. This has been bandied about and confirmed by some kickers, apparently. :0008

So. Cal
Been on this for years at extreme + money (hell it opened +230ish last year)

This year, word is out and its even money.....and highly popular

Fully expecting a slip by the kicker, that's turned into a squib that can't be corralled and rolls 1 yard into the end zone where its downed by the returner for a touchback
