I haven't seen a thread yet on this so I'll post a few thoughts.

First of all, the losers:

Dove/Real Beauty or whatever that campaign is that they have. In all honesty, I don't think a lot of those bigger girls look too bad, but why waste money on a spot during the Superbowl??? They needed to play that on ESPN during their figure skating or gymnastics when more women will be watching. Guys watching the Superbowl care nothing about the Dove beauty fund for fat girls. Waste of money and a very stupid commercial to boot.

Burger king had an extremely stupid commercial. All those girls dressed up as burger toppings while doing fairy dances. Another spot that should have been aired during figure skating or gymnastics. The clips showing the Burger "king" interposed into older game footage that have been playing the last 4 months or so are the true genius, and Burger King missed out royally not expanding on that. Burger King was a true loser on this commercial.

GoDaddy.com No way to expand on their exponential success from last year, so really, they should have sat out this superbowl. After the censoring and 7 revisions, the commercial just was not good.

Gilette Fusion Stupid commercial for a stupid product. 5 blades?? lol, how silly.

Diet Pepsi I almost forgot this unforgettable trash. Wow, some terrible commercials those were with the recording studio and brown bubb or whatever that was. Both terrible. Why try to cater to the hip-hop crowd when it's middle age white people drinking your product???

WINNERS

Bud Light Some hilarious commercials!! The revolving wall, the beer bottles stuck in the wall, dand the random white guy stealing the guy's beer that he was offering to the grizzly chasing him, all very funny stuff! Budweiser also had a pretty funny one with the Clydesdales and the "streaker" sheep. I laughed at that. The stadiium shot that represented the fans holding the different cards over their heads that showed the beer bottle pouring a glass was pretty cool too.

Michelob the touch football (guy tackles the girl and says, "You WERE open, but now you're closed"). VERY FUNNY!!

Ameriquest The doctors talking over the guy in the bed after they shock the fly, and the airplane scene after the blackout/turbulence. Hugely funny, especially the airplane spot, lol!

Fedex The caveman commercial was very funny! Loved the irony at the end where he kicks the "dog" and then gets trounced by the mammoth leg. LOL!!

The Espn mobile phone commercial was pretty cool.

Wrote all this by memory, but I then searched for them on the internet. Hate to say anything good about AOL, but this site is easy to use and has all of the commercials uploaded to the net to view. http://sports.aol.com/nfl/superbowlads?sem=1&ncid=AOLSPR00170000000011

I agree with every one of your choices, both worst and best. The Dove ad is ridiculous. Some girls are ugly. Some girls are fat. Some girls are both. It's a fact. This foundation for inner beauty bullshit isn't doing anyone any favors with all of that fake feel-good crap. No wonder we have legions of fat teenage chicks wearing belly shirts and way too tight low rise jeans with their humongous guts hanging out all over the place. And don't give me that "beauty is on the inside" crap either. Dove doesn't sell products to make your insides beautiful.

The Diet Pepsi ad was sad because the truth of the matter is, if they released that rap/r+b by the numbers hybrid "song" as a single, it would crack the Top 10 by the end of the week. Pathetic.

So true about BK. They should have had The King against Bettis in a coin flip. Bettis would have been so disconcerted by the King's looks, he would have called "heads-tails" again. The tagline would be "Everybody wins with The King." Maybe it's not great, but it's better than what they had.

My favorite commerciasl were the Fedex one that you mentioned and the Bud Light streaker commercial. Hilarious! I also loved the phone commercial when the two guys were trying to one up each other with their cell phone features and the guy says his has an anti-crime feature. That was funny as hell.

How could you leave out the careerbuilder.com commercials, my personal favorites.

Overall, a VERY weak class of commercials this year. Wife and I kept saying, *this* is the best they could come up with after at least 12 months of planning? That BK one was the 2nd commercial shown and was AWFUL.

thought the commercials were better in the past. Is Micheloeb brewed by budweiser.

not sure for 2006, but in 2005 budweiser would have 130 scripts done for commercials (from all of the ad agencies they use) they would then shoot what they believe the top 50, at an average cost of $250k a piece. then they would use the top 13 during the superbowl.

thanks

Not that I ever eat at BK, but if I see one now I am going to keep driving. They are very few and far between here in Western Pa, and the one that was closeby shut down over a year ago.

That might have been the stupidest commercial I have ever seen.

These two were near the end of the game:

THe Hummer commercial (with the two monsters having a baby) ranked right up there with the BK one. Also, the guys in the Emerald Nuts marketing group need to be fired. I won't eat an Emerald Nut just becasue of their commercials.
