I think you can throw that ticket out now. ;)

Definitely no higher than 10/1. I'm thinking 7/1 or 8/1 but didn't save the file.

LAS VEGAS - Seconds after New England shocked the football world by upsetting the St. Louis Rams as a 14-point underdog, 20-17, oddsmakers at Las Vegas Sports Consultants installed the Patriots as a 12/1 longshot to repeat. It has since been lowered to 10/1.

The Rams are still the favorites at 5/2, followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers at 6/1 and the Philadelphia Eagles at 8/1.

The Oakland Raiders and Indianapolis Colts are both 10/1. The Colts finished 6-10 this past season. Enter Tony Dungy, who never got this much respect when he was the head coach in Tampa Bay. He has been hired to replace the fired Jim Mora at Indianapolis.

"Dungy is well respected," said LVSC odds manager Pete Korner. "His specialty is defense. They already have the offense. As long as he doesn't tinker with that, they'll be OK."

The Colts placed second to the Rams in points per game, averaging 25.8. However, they allowed a league-worst 30.4. The Detroit Lions were the next poorest defensive team, allowing 26.5 points per game.

"They have an explosive offense," Korner said of the Colts. "If he (Dungy) tightens the defense, they'll be back in the mix again."

Dungy is known for building outstanding defenses. This is a clear indication that LVSC is anticipating the Colts to be a popular team on next season's future book.

Despite winning the Super Bowl in stunning fashion, the New England Patriots opened behind five other teams with odds of 12/1.

The Denver Broncos, who missed the playoffs with a .500 record, were one of the teams listed along side of the Patriots at 12/1 until New England's future book odds were lowered to its current 10/1 price.

"It's more perception than anything else," Korner said about Denver's low odds.

Korner believes the Broncos have a good team, and could bounce back with a healthy Brian Griese.

The Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans and last year's Super Bowl champs from Baltimore are all 15/1.

The Washington Redskins opened 25/1 under new coach Steve Spurrier. However, those odds could drop if the Redskins are able to sign a better quarterback than starter Tony Banks.

The highest odds belong to the expansion Houston Texans at 200/1.
