Question for you lads.. i am in a survivor pool and my question is this... is this the week to take Oakland???

What is your theory with these leagues??? Do you always take the heavy favorites??? Or do you try and and save up those good teams for the end of the year????

So far i have kinda mixed it up choosing

Ariz, SD, Miami, KC, Jax, Pitt

This week i was thinking

Jets, Seahags, or Oak

Of course i could always take the Colts coming off the bye, but it would be nice to have the Colts in my pocket later in the year

Thoughts??

Oakland is a hard pill to swallow as they dont seem to have any interest in football this season. With that being said though they will have to find a win somewhere and this may be the spot. The public will be in love with Arizona and Leinart after the almost win against the media darling Bears. Good luck if you go that route.

Check out this link... each week a new one is started and people give their thoughts on different teams and different strategies

Personally, I am staying away from Oakland the entire year. you have to pick 18 teams out of 32, therefore, there are 14 teams you can stay away from... IMO Oakland, Tenn, Cle, GB are all teams I will not take the entire year.

It all depends on who you have used, but there are better teams out there. Oak lost to cleveland at home :scared

I have Oak -3, think it's a good bet. They're home and believe media hyped the "worst team to bet' Ariz coming off a big loss and will be deflated. Why only 3pts. I'll take Oak. Just my .02

If anyone of you wanna takes Oakland for Survivor Pools, well you got balls that I'll give you

I have been playing Survivor Pools for 3 years now, going the distance last year and one of the things that I try to avoid is trying to be *cute*, taking a team that nobody really gives a chance and hoping to be that *somebody* you know what i mean

Well I'll tell you what, in this type of contest where you don't have the 2nd chance to make a good first impression, go with the strongest pick(s) on the board and worry about next week on Tuesday.

Cheers.

why would you take oak??the pool is 17 weeks long thats 17 teams ,some times you have to pick 2 teams..to win this thing (and i did last year, not saying much, faves won all year) you need to pick 20 winners on the ml..oakland is the 32nd ranked team in everybodys book,so why take a chance on them when you dony have to?.best way to play this is looking ahead at the schedule..if your thinking jags this week? id rather use another team and save the jags for when their at home vs the texans in 2 weeks..try taking home faves.lay off the bad teams ,their is no need to take them, unless you really think their going to win .

Looking ahead on the schedule, Denver has some pretty rough games on deck...taking them against Cleveland although a sandwich game makes sense to me...

Indy and New England have better games in the upcoming weeks...

Bingo. The guys that plan out their first five weeks are usually out by week #3. One thing I would add is that I tried to only take teams playing at home.

If you take Oakland this week, or any week, you don't understand the contest.

If you received any kind of bonus for picking Oakland then I would say go for it, but you don't so it's just not worth it. Personally, I think the best survivor pool pick this week is the Jets. Just don't see Detroit pulling off 2 in a row and you can't really be disappointed with "wasting" the Jets.

Also think Dallas at home is pretty solid.

You have to admit that part of your reason for wanting to go with Oakland is to be the guy that called what might be their only victory of the year. Can't blame you, but it's not the best winning strategy.

GL whatever you do and with all that said I will be the first to give you props if you pick Oakland and they hit for you.

Gibber,
I have to say it's difficult to back Oakland this weekend...or any weekend until they prove they can win again!
I like your other 2 thoughts better w/Jets or Seachickens...whatever u do.. GOOD LUCK!
