Sportsnet has verified reports that current head coach Brent Sutter will not return for a third season as the Devils bench boss. Sutter amassed a 97-56-11 record during his two full years as coach. The Devils failed to move out of the first round of the playoffs this year, losing to the Carolina Hurricanes in seven games.
Prior to the Devils, Sutter was the head coach for the Red Deer Rebels, which he owns and still runs.
