Looks like I'll be in the minority for this one. . . but it just seems amazing to me that people here believe this Fresno State team is still a decent team. . . because they lost a lot of talent. Not just their QB Carr. They lost their top two running backs in Gains and Levi and their top three receivers in Wright, Berrian, and Smith. What remains is basically their offensive line which is a start, but just too many key positions vacant to figure into scoring a lot their first game.
Wisconsin is certainly not one of the best teams in the Big 10. I'll be the first to admit their defense looks scarey with only 3 returning starters. However, their offense is loaded: QB Bollinger is back, their top running back in Davis is back, and their top receiver in Lee Evans. Wisconsin shouldn't have a problem getting on the scoreboard tonight against a Fresno State 'D' that shouldn't be as dominant as they were last year.
My bet on this game is based on the simple fact that I do not believe Fresno State will score enough to stay with the Badgers. I do not believe their offense is capable and even though the Badgers defense doesn't figure to help this team down the road, I think it does in the first game of the year when defenses are usually ahead of offenses.
Finally, just take a look at the spread! Started around 7 yet the line has climbed to 9 on some books even though everyone here at MadJacks appears to be on the dog? I'll go with the line change and even though I wanted 7, I had to settle for laying 8 last night.
