what didnt matter and we should remember this.

1. The Vet itself as in nostalgia didnt matter

2. the last game at the Vet didn't matter

3. the crowd in the Vet didn't matter

4. the temperature so cold for a southern team didn't matter.

5. Tampas weak offense didnt matter.

5A Philly beating TB last 3 games in playoffs, didn't matter

6. Grudens chucky face....hmmmmm

The Championship series must be capped differantly than the rest of season. There are other things we must look at for victory.

Thank you

Thank you

Scott, You are 100% right. These games are won on the field with a coaching staff that has the right game plan and the players to execute it. And if the game plan isn't working they are smart enough to make adjustments.

On the course!
That game falls more under the catagory of "one any given Sunday".

The better team got beat, and that happens.

I agree with you on any given Sunday, but let it go on the better team got beat:nono:

Philly did not get beat, they were buried, they were out coached, they were out hit, they were out played on a day when they should have risen to the occasion.

No, the best team won and it was proved on the field in the Vet

;)

Gruden's crew did an outstanding job and particularly Monty G whose D strategies excelled. I do like a Coach/ Co-Ordinator who can make quick adjustments to plans. For me no one in the NFL does it better and he'll need all his best scheming to help stop the Raiders.

On the opposite side of the ball you gotta wonder what juice Andy Reid was on before/ during the game. I've never seen such a flat bunch of players and as for some of the calls

Even JJ's D didn't start applying pressure until the 3rd Q. I watched Brad Johnson as a London Monarch in NFL Europe and he's no more mobile now- he makes Dan Marino look like Mike Vick- but give him time and simple stuff and he gets the job done.

This was a case of a team that wanted to win taking it over a team that expected to win.

Nice call on Tampa, Scott.

But throwing out southern teams in cold weather and home teams in Championship games will not benefit you in the long run. The better coached team won yesterday and not the better team. Johnson would have got killed had the Eagles blitzed him and they had success when they did. I don't think that the Raiders have the corners to blitz effectively, so Tampa might go the entire playoffs without anybody trying to beat their achilles heel.

I will concede that I might be missing something in regards to reasoning on why you wouldn't blitz Johnson as the coaches watch more film than I, but I've never seen him attack a blitz successfully for a long period of time.

I personally fell into a trap with Tampa Bay, I had bet the game vs the Steelers and sided with TBAY, they looked so bad that night and the Steelers pulled off that INT to the house early, BUT the difference was two fold :

A No Brad Johnson

B Big motovation difference in a championship game.

I let that loss haunt my prespective of this game, it happens I was wrong and I was taught a lesson because of it.

Enough said.

Congratulations again Tampa Bay you deserve it and it was just one loss albeit a 5% one for me!

On to the Super Bowl. Hard for me to believe this is the 37th one I will watch.

I was stunned when Mitchell ran it back on the first kickoff. That usually means disaster for a team I am on. But when Tampa Bay came back and went for a touchdown I was impressed.

What really surprised me about the game was the terrible field position Tampa Bay had all the game, and Philly starting on their the 46 every series. Phillys offense lost the game for them. But credit must go for Sapp and the boys on defense. Poor Sapp got stabbed in the eye. He still played though which says something for him.

Alstott and the backs for Tampa Bay stepped up and played awesome. In hindsight I believe that Grudens game plan and the backs were the differance in the game.

I really like Tampa Bays defense to jump on Oakland and I will gladly take these points I am thinking.

Tremendous hits on both sides. Players hurt had some impact for Phillys line.

You hit the hammer on the head there.

How many times even this season did I cap the games based on last weeks accomplishments. Best lesson is throw that last game out the window and cap the games based on overall rankings and total stats.

One game look backs will break your :moon: .

Scott I agree and actually that was a 4 week look back but quite frankly I felt that IF a team couldn't show up at home on MNF and play better ball than I saw that night then I wasn't really ready to back them on the road, regardless of the situation. Again I was wrong but thank goodness I am wrong generally only 41% of the time. :)

Even Superbowl teams have letdowns. They are not going to run the table 16-0. If we can find the letdown games we can make some cash.

only trouble is we got to wait until Sept now.

well 59% win rate is money in the bank. here is hoping my money bags drag the ground on the back of a mule.

but betting on the better team when they are getting 4.5 points will benefit you in the long run.

wow tampa completely dominates philly on both sides of the ball and people still say this. did you watch the game bobby? tampa was the best team on the field.
