I'm leaving town for the weekend for a bachelor's party so I'll put this up earlier than normal. The Heels "travel" to Raleigh to take on State (or NC State for those of you not in NC). On paper, this would look like a state blowout. I see this from a different perspective. This is a rivalry, and I think when capping this has to be taken into perspective. The last time State beat the Heels at home was in 1991 (a couple years were in charlotte though). I just think that this game is going to be closer than the pointspread. It's basically 2 very good offenses against two very bad defenses. I think TA McLendon will probably sit in this game unless it's close at the end. Texas Tech put something like 300+ yards of offense on State last week in the 1st half.
I expect the Tar Heels to be able to move the ball well. I also expect Rivers will rack up some pretty hefty numbers against our slack pass D. There is a good chance Bobby Blizzard will see action for the Heels, who is a great TE who we basically structured our offense around this summer. He is coming back from viral meningitis, so his conditioning may be suspect. I am also ecstatic that Derrell Mitchell, the worst cornerback in UNC history, who is personally responsible for 2 of our 3 losses this year, will FINALLY be benched. I think that probably will save 14 or so points this weekend.
Sorry for the huge paragraph, bottom line is this: Two great offenses, two bad defenses, a heated rivalry...the points are just too much. There is a chance State can win by 30+ points, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Heels pulled off the upset. I would have liked the over when it first came out around 54, but at 58 it's a little too high for my taste. I do still think it will go way over that total.
Pick: UNC +18 2 units
Oh yeah, 2-1 +1 units on NC football this year
I'm a Tar Heel born, I'm a Tar Heel bred,
And when I die I'll be a Tar Heel dead.
GO TO HELL STATE:thefinger
