Your old eyes didn't miss anything:D I was waiting for you to stop by to ask my question! I hope you didn't waste to much time looking over there.
Anyway if I'm not mistaken weren't you a fast pitch softball coach???? If my memeory isn't failing me I think it was you.:D
My daughter 10 years old is playing this year for the first time, she tried out to be placed on 1 of 2 teams and she made the reginal team which is the better of the 2. I was very reserved even alowing her to try because she is involved with other things dancing and such and she is just so girly:) well to my surprise she's pretty good I was shocked she has no fear which is a + when playing sports at that age and it turns out she's pretty tough too, slides and all. My question to you is this kid wants to be a pitcher:eek: man some of those girls are already throwing pitches at 40mph I was incouraged to find a pitching coach and get her started right away that there are several schools good schools that are always looking for pitchers for fast pitch high school and then when they get to college age they are scouted and some even go to school on full rides..............Its never to early to think of college I was just surprised I never played college ball and wasn't really aware that its that serious Hey my thought is if she's really into it than what the hell its worth a shot.... Now I've found pitching coaches in the range of $20-an hour to $50 an hour being its a true leason for she has never pitched in her life:shrug: do I go for the $50 an hour coach and assume this will be better coaching and she'll learn from the best from the start or would you just let her learn with some one more reasonable because I think thats alot of money for one hour BUT IT MAY BE WORTH IT IN THE LONG RUN???????????

Wish I was there for my cost is 000000. I never ever would charge to help teach a kid anything. Ok she is 10. Great time to started and get her doing right things to help build strength where needed. You will find very slight built girls that throw as well as larger gals. Why is this. The snap of the wrist is one reason and the push from the legs is other. What to start with. Legs in almost all cases are stronger then the arm. Forsure in young kids. How to get good snap on ball and build the arm?
Well as strang as it sounds. Play catch You do it differant then you think to start with. Walk off 30 feet. Now I understand the distance she will pitch from will be closer to 40ft.
But we want to work on snap and the arm. So have your girl get on her knees. Then you stand 30 ft away. Now have her throw to you with just arm and snap no use of the legs. Sounds nuts I know but it works. Have her throw at least 25 to 30 balls this way. Make them count throw strikes. But with out letting her know. Just the practice of motion and snap is as important here if there strikes or not. But you want strikes no balls put in there head at all times. After this step next is to have her stand up and go out about 43/44 ft. This is a little longer then she will be asked to pitch from. Here you want her to practice a slow rocking motion and use her legs for power to thow you another 20 to 25 pitches.
Now final step. Put her on the mound/pitching rubber. Now you will seem just alittle closer to her because of the extra couple of feet she was just throwing from. Makes then comfortable and feal fast. Now have her throw another 20 to 25 pitches. Here it is very important to get at least 80% strikes. Thats about all there young arm can take for a day. But you need to do this at least 4 times a week. As summer goes along and she gets more use to it increase the amount of pitches. But never over due it and never more then 4 days. The arm even for fast pitch at her age needs the rest so it does not get sore. Also very important find the grip on the ball she thinks feals the best. Then remember how it was gripped and do it same way. After she can throw 80% strikes with that grip. Now your ready to see if she can gripped it another way and make the ball do something a little differant. Also home in the evenings she should have a squeeze ball and if watching TV or what ever squeeze it some. Also 1 or 2 pound weights that she can hold in her hand and do rist curls. Both up and turn wrist over and down. Again just a few to build that wrist. She will know if 4 or 5 each way is enough she will tell you. It's differant for each gal. Remember she is 10. And by the time she gets to 12 and from there on up you may say holly chit. Look what I have here. Now for cost. You take some of this info I just gave you and ask questions. Who ever answers best you can give them a try. Or just get started with what I told you. Have patients. You may find out you can do it well. As far as what to do when ball is hit to her. That will come thru game experiance and general coaching as what to do in certain situations. Right now you what strikes and strenght worked on. Game experiance will come in the game. It's same for everyone. But not everyone will work real hard to be a pitcher. Have ger develope a attitude. I Can throw strikes and you can not hit the ball. Sounds dumb but you need it. Incourage her even when it is a bad day. She will have them. Make sure she takes batting practice with same attitude. A hitting pitcher is a big big plus. Always see who ever is coaching these kids even at age 10 they practice punting. Punting in this game is important. ;)

So my memory didn't fail me :) It was you.......thanks for the advice;) but we are starting from the VERY beginning I do not know even enough to tell her how to be throwing the ball:shrug:I will have to invest in some one for a little while untill I get a grasp on how its done myself and then she can practice in between with me! My other concern is she is a little thing aren't most fast pitch girls on the bigger side????
I agree about the experience on the field LMAO last week we both had games at the same time so she went with another parent she came home all excited and said mom you would have been so proud of me "I SLID INTO 1st BASE AND WAS SAFE!!!!!!   ) LOL

TBONE she will not always be small. When you ask someone to help her. Ask if they ever pitched them selfs. Smeone who knows is much better then someone who thinks they do. Good Luck.
