I must admit, I'm not one for liking to tie my money up for an entire season to see how it plays out, but I like this one:
CHICAGO CUBS under 84.5 wins (-105 @ Carib)
- Cubs won 79 games last year, and would need another 6 victories in 2006 to eclipse this line
- Serious questions exist regarding the health of Wood and particularly Prior, both of whom will start the season on the DL, leaving serious questions surrounding the remaining rotation (possibly Zambrano, Rusch, Maddox, Marshall, Williams)
- bullpen should be improved with addition of Howry and Eyre, but I still question Dempster's ability to repeat last year's 33 saves as closer
- Division strength - Cards will be a force once again, Astros will win their share, and I expect improvements from both the Brewers and Pirates, leaving the lowly Reds, whom the Cubs will need to beat up on
This line is probably set this high because of the public's affection for the Cubs, but I think too many uncertanties surround this team in an ever improving NL Central.
CUBS UNDER 84.5 WINS.
Can't wait to get this party started......Hello Baseball :mj06:
