Don't have any idea how, but my mother managed to erase all her pictures on her s4 mini(did not factory reset). Took a look at it and even did a simple google search as well as downloading "samsung data recovery" but it said incompatible unless it was rooted. Bottom line, anyone have any insight on some free photo recovery software that might be of use? Paid versions are fine as well if there is no free answer. She is freaking out and I would love to be able to help her out. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

I know that Samsung has a photo recovery software that is $49.99, but I believe that there is a free version or a trial version. Have you found that?

Yeah, that's the one I tried and it said it wasn't compatible because it wasn't rooted. Made zero sense to me, but wtf do I know.

Have any tech savy buddies? Rooting isn't really that bad. It gives you root access to the phone. I've rooted a few of my old Droids. No need with the new ones.

Moving forward turn on Google Plus auto upload/backup (over Wifi onlyl) that way all photos will automatically be uploaded to your Google+ account. You may have to sign up for an account, it's free. I believe you can do this on an iPhone as well.

Good luck! Hope you get the photos back.

Where the fuck is Josh?

Got stuck click baiting

Without some research I don't have any suggestions software wise yet. Have you connected the phone to a computer and poked around in the folders in the phone? That is the first thing I would do if I were in the same boat

I think the default photo format for the s4 is jpg so I would hook up to the phone, and search *.jpg to see if they show up

I'm off to bed - gl m8
