Temple University announced today that seven members of its football team have been declared academically ineligible to compete during the 2005 season.

The seven scholarship players are senior running back Tim Brown, senior strong safety Bobby Fulmore, senior wide receiver Mike Holley, junior cornerback David Reese, senior defensive end J.C. Braker, junior offensive guard Sam McNaulty and junior defensive end David Fatherly.

Temple opens its 107th season of collegiate football Thursday evening in Tempe, Ariz. when the Owls line up for a 10:00 p.m. kickoff versus Arizona State. The Sun Devils are ranked No 18 in the USA Today preseason coaches poll and No 20 in the Associated Press poll.

Last season, Brown was a mutli-faceted back for the Owls. He rushed for 432 yards and two TDs, caught 33 passes for 199 yards and one score and was sparingly used as a returner.

Fulmore played in all 11 games as a second-year junior and Reese started in four games as a third-year sophomore. Holley, Braker, McNaulty and Fatherly didn't play last year.

Head coach Bobby Wallace is scheduled to meet reporters today.
