I will have to admit, I haven't watched more than 10 minutes of a Lady Vols basketball game in my life. Having said that, Coach Summitt is my kind of coach; no nonsense, no excuses.

She said today, "There will be no pity party, and I'll make sure of that."

She will fight through it as well or better than anyone else would. Still, there are many many people out there that are hurting for her tonight.

My wife's father was diagnosed at 49 years old. Peak of his career, about to enjoy the best years of his life.

Over the past 11 years I watched him lose his faculties, his dignity, his ability to think, speak, go to the bathroom, eat,...exist. We moved him to full time care 3 months ago.

We also watched the burden on his wife of 30+ years, slowly watching your love drift away. The most difficult part is she can never move on. While he is no longer with us in mind, he is physically. She is a prisoner to this disease and will suffer far longer than he.

If you have loved ones with Alz you know what I'm saying. If you know of someone who is hit with early onset like we do, well, it's that much worse. My wife may carry the genes and it terrifies me.

My heart aches for what I know is in store for her family.

very well said and it is HORRIBLE disease with no cure ... my grandmother passed from this back in the 80s ... she went from taking care of our family {lost my mom at 40} to needing full time care within 3 years ... then it took 7-8 more years before it took her ... she weighed 67 pounds and never got out of the bed the last 5

from a HUGE Tide man ... best of luck of Coach Summitt as you are one of the best of all time :0074
