This may be gambling 101 but what is a money line bet vs just picking a team ie. Houston -125 ....ML-130. Thanks .... BTW as long as I'm trying to get an education what is whip.

Moneyline is just picking a side, it's THE line. It makes more sense if you take the other 'line' in baseball, the 'runline' where one team gets a run handicap, and put them next to each other.
So moneyline is just the side, runline is a side with handicap (usually +1.5 / -1.5 runs, or in words: team X can lose by one / has to win by two to win the bet)

WHIP = walks and hits per inning pitched, so lower is better
