After an impressive road trip that saw the Bruins go 4-1-1-0, they open their 2002-03 home schedule in grand fashion tomorrow night, honoring Terry O'Reilly in pre-game ceremonies by retiring his #24. Good seats were recently released and are still available!
"The Ultimate Bruin" will be honored by the team by having his number retired in a pre-game ceremony before the team hosts the Ottawa Senators. No player has worn the number 24 since O'Reilly retired as a player at the conclusion of the 1984-85 season.
O'Reilly will become the ninth Bruin so honored, joining Eddie Shore (#2), Lionel Hitchman (#3), Bobby Orr (#4), Aubrey "Dit" Clapper (#5), Phil Esposito (#7), John Bucyk (#9), Milt Schmidt (#15) and Ray Bourque (#77). Orr, Bucyk, Schmidt and Bourque will take part in the ceremonies, in addition to Don Cherry, who coached O'Reilly from 1974-79.
