HSF Degen Plays (-120): 110-76-2 (+42 units)

Too much going on but:

5 pm

Mart - 21
Gruver 68'

2 units on Gruver +21 LOSS FS: M 76 G 30

2 units on the Under 68' LOSS

Game is due to start soon. Mart Panthers are defending State Champs and will probably win with a dynamite run game..... Gruver is no slouch and I like their Defense to slow down Panther attack... What isn't really broadcasted is that Marts Starting Soph QB is making his 2nd start due to injury to the starter.

Gruver also has some injuries and their Starting RB is out.... Think that the total here is heavy..... Like Gruver to stay within the number.

*Starting off 0-2 with Mart walloping Gruver 76-30......Total flew over.... Oh well back to the drawing board...

9 am

New Deal 54'
Mason -3

2 units on Mason -3 WIN
FS: M 46 ND 6

*Think Mason Punches (15-0) control the clock with an outstanding OL with 3 year starter QB Otto Wofford managing the offense.... HC Kade Burns has compiled a 101-9 record.... Defense only allows 7 ppg... Last week, RB Klay Klaener rushed for 212 yards w/4 TDs...

New Deal Lions are also perfect with a 15-0 record... Sr Dual threat QB Jett Whitfield has 2,248 pass yards w/32 TDs and has added 1,934 rush yards with another 30 TDs... Iowa St recruit WR K Blaylock (6'5" 180 lbs) has 1,161 receiving yards w/20 TDs, He is the prime target of Whitfield and Punches will need to account for their athleticism...The Defense holds opponents to 12 ppg Avr. and is led by Frosh LB Leric Eaton who has compiled 147 tackles w/9 sacks.

Think perhaps Punches victory over Refugio (28-14) was the actual Title Game.... Mason is stacked with athletes and are looking for another Title since capturing the crown in 2011....New Deal is in Virgin waters for the program...

I don't trust this total but gun to my head... Over..

3A Div 2 Champ... 1 pm.... Arlington TX

Canadian 69'
Newton -10

2 units on Under 69' WIN FS: N 21 C 16

2 units on Newton -10 LOSS

Canadian Wildcats (14-1) are a bit of a surprise to be playing in this game as many felt that their nemesis and rival Gunter were a foreseen prophecy to go back to the State Title... However, Wildcats won in a hard fought Defensive battle 17-7 to advance. Sr QB Casen Cavalier (5'11" 200 lbs) dual threat stats include 3,367 passing yards and 937 rush yards.....His goto WR Garrison McCook (6' 175 lbs) has 1,194 Rec yards w/17 TDs (he's a lockdown CB too with 3 INT and 9 deflections)

Defending undefeated Champs Newton Eagles (14-0) are on a 29 game win streak and are 42-1 in past 3 Seasons...... Eagles returned 9 Off starters and 8 Defensive Starters from last years Title winners (beat Gunter 40-16)......TCU Commit, Sr QB Josh Foster (6'2" 190 lbs) is calm and cool 😎 with 1,541 pass yards & 676 rush yards..... Joining Foster is another TCU commit, Sr RB Darwin Barlow (5'11" 200 lbs) has amassed a work horse 2,266 rush yards (12.5 yards per carry avr.) *He has back-to-back 2,000 yard rushing and 35+ TDs........ Joining Barlow is Jr RB V Fowler (638 rush yards) and Jr RB Kevin Watson Jr. (416 rush yards) *There are another 4-5 RBs that all have 100+ rush yards so it's very obvious that Eagles like to play a back yard, punch 'em in da face style........ It might be the fastest HSF Team in Texas....... D1 recruit Sr WR T Brown has 600 receiving yards but is out with a injury *Takes away a big outlet.

Last week, Newton was almost upended against East Bernard 21-14 with the last second heroics of D Barlow going into the end zone with a couple of clicks left....... EB employed a ball control scheme that ran clock and limited possessions which was very effective, although it should be noted that Eagles were penalized throughout the game stopping big drives and turned the ball over which was very uncharacteristic...... HC W. T Johnston reported that efforts were sloppy and too many blown assignments....... Bank that he will have Eagles full attention this week.

There are 5 TCU commits playing in this game between the two teams....... Newton spanked their way through the regular season and playoffs until last week's game........ Canadians aren't built for a slugfest in the trenches like East Bernard tried...... Canadians prefer fast paced offensive up tempo style *But, their last two playoff wins were 19-7 against Abernathy and 17-7 to Gunter.

Think this games Defenses have a legitimate shot of keeping this final score away from the 69'......Think Newton gets back on track pulling away in the 2nd half....... My prediction Newton 35 Canadian 14...Gluck

Div 3A S2 Champ. 5 pm

Malakoff 50
Grandview -5'

2 units on Over 50 WIN FS: GV 35 M 21

2 units on Malakoff +5' LOSS

Perhaps the biggest surprise of this 3A Final are the two teams representing. Don't get me wrong, as both teams deserve to be here, however, in a Blueblood Football State of Texas, both programs are making their first Championship appearance despite Malakoff Tigers (13-2) starting football in 1925 and Grandview Zebras (14-2) going back to 1909. That's quite a drought for both schools.

Grandview comes in as the fav and many people feel that the Championship was 3 weeks ago against perennial power Franklin (1 loss) which Zebras won 24-21...... The week before, GV slipped past previous unbeaten Woodinville 42-14......In the quarterfinals, Zebras pulled off an OT win 36-35 despite turning the ball over 6 times..... Last week's semifinal win over red hot Yoakum 28-14 was the dressing....

Malakoff Tigers are playing their best ball at the right time.... They survived a shootout in week 1 of playoffs over Pottsboro 63-35.....next was a 10 point win over Jefferson 31-21......Against Gladewater the Tigers won easily 35-7.....The quarterfinals against Atlanta 37-22 and people started paying attention.... Last week's semifinal win 23-21 over Brock (another perennial power) brought them to the doorstep in Arlington....

Of note should be the fact that these two hooked up in the regular season in Week 3 in which Grandview controlled all aspects with a 28-7 victory, a game where Tigers didn't score until last 2 minutes of the game.... Made all the more surprising since Grandview has had to live on the razors edge in these playoffs while Tigers have coasted up until last week.

Grandview has a Soph QB Dane Jentsch, who is the teams field general and actually makes check down at the LOS.... He has passed for 2,845 yards and rushed for another 1,210 yards with a combined 59 Total TDs.... In last week's 23-21 win he rushed for 180 yards w/2 TDs rushing and passed for a score too...... RB Elijah Golden (6' 185 lbs) since taking over starting duties has rushed for 1,270 yards.... The Zebras have 4 different WRs with at least 450+ yards...... The O-Line is physical and aggressive....The defense has received accolades for allowing only 16.7 ppg and has yielded roughly 21 ppg in the playoffs.... Not bad since the D unit only returned 1 starter from last year's unit that made it to the regionals.

Malakoff appears to be playing their best ball at the right time.... HC Jamie Driskell is seeking his 100th career win.... Tigers also have a Soph QB starting, Darion Peace is dual threat passing for 2013 yards w/28 TDs.... Kid has only 2 INT in 198 attempts.... Team is a run first philosophy with RB Keevie Rose doing the most as the work horse rushing for 1,425 yards w/17 TDs on 200 carries *Of interest is Rose only rushed for 8 yards on 8 carries when these two met...... He won the starting job after a couple of major injuries sidelined the top RBs on the depth chart...... Malakoff will grind the run and now has all pieces of the puzzle healthy...... Defense is big and holds opponents to 17 ppg..... Massive Soph DL D Crownover is 6'7" and plugs the holes.

Both teams are naturally excited in making such an historical appearance and chance to live on in Texas HSF Immortality........ In the first meeting, Grandview controlled the LOS only allowing 8 total first downs to the Tigers and 170 total yards (48 rush yards in 29 attempts).....*Since that game, Malakoff has turned things around scoring an average 41 ppg...... The difference here is that Tigers are a completely different team as everyone is healthy and the motivation is different....

Something to Consider: Malakoff Starting DL Caleb Adam's lost his baby sister, Karen to Cancer on Oct 15......He was very close to his Sister and she actually had a softball sized tumor that metastatic in her esophagus cutting off air flow..... Originally, they thought she was in remission after Chemo therapy but the tumor returned on a family trip to DisneyWorld that they were celebrating her remission........ The Mother ended up losing her home because she missed shifts to be with her daughter and the medical bills......Karen (15 year old Sister) died 3 times on Oct 15 and each time returned to say her goodbyes... Her last time, she told the family and friends that she was could see Heaven and told her that she wouldn't be coming back, so she said her goodbyes and passed..... The whole team has put Her Name on their helmets and Caleb has played for his Sister as have the whole team...... The family has been homeless but friends have put them up and the community has come together to help the family, paying for her funeral and has provided meals to the family that is housing them........ It's pretty easy to see the motivation for this team..... My prayers are certainly with them.

Lastly, I like the Revenge factor in this game... Think Malakoff pulls out a close one and 50 points could go over here as frankly neither D has pitched many shut outs....

Gluck

4A Champ... 9 am

Pleasant Grove -13
Cuero 67

2 units on Over 67 WIN FS: C 40 PV 28

2 units on Cuero +13 WIN

Game is going to go shortly..... Cuero Gobblers (yes that's their mascot) (14-1) are seeking first State Title since 2004.......Cuero has Senior Leadership at most of the skill positions and I believe they will test PV despite Hawks, who are defending State Champs with that fact alone.... It wouldn't surprise me if Cuero can pull off the upset..... Sr WR Jordan Whittington (6'1" 185 lbs) is a 5 Star recruit heading to Longhorns *Leads team in catches and yards even missing a couple of games with injury. One pub actually has home as the Top WR in the country.)

Pleasant Grove Hawks (13-2) run Wing-T offense and wants to grind you down with their brand of mis-direction. JR QB Ben Harmon (6'2" 180 lbs) has 30 passing TDs this season w/5 INT... Last week's demolition of Iowa Park (49-14) in which the Hawks rushed for 341 yards but Harmon passed for 3 TDs on just 6 attempts....... Of course, for those that have ever played against Wing-T teams in their career (and I'll bet that's a few of you who love to gamble on Football or probably wouldn't be on Madjacks forum) know that Wing-T is always a set up for the Waggle and teams that run the offense love to run that mis-direction lulling opponents into a false sense of security then hit the Waggle for a home-run.

Pleasant Grove only returned 3 Off starters and 4 defensive starters from last years team.

I think this one has the makings of a shoot-out as neither D has been shut down and both have given up points.... I'm thinking the points with Cuero is a nice gift....

La Vega -13
Liberty Hill 70

2 units on Vega -13 WIN FS: LV 35 LH 21

2 units on Over 70 LOSS *I knew this was a stretch

Have to admit I was hesitant in betting the Over here but my reasoning (while not always sound) is basically La Vega Pirates (13-2) has put up some big numbers against quality competition this season with wrecking ball Sr RB John Richard's running over and through Defenses, especially in the playoffs where he has rushed for 800 yards and has 12 TDs in post season alone...... The program has accounted for more than 5,000 yards on the ground and in last week's annihilation of Decatur in the Semis, Pirates had more than 700 yards of offense.... Resulting in a 53-0 game.

Liberty Hill has also posted great numbers this year behind a surging Slot-T Offense that put up 44 points last week sending Carthage and their Texas State leading 40 game win streak packing.... Their leader is RB Kyle Harrison who has an awe inspiring 2,916 yards on the ground with 41 TDs....This hard charging stud will go over the 3,000 yard mark today (rushed for 100+ yards in 13+ games and has hit 200+ yards on 8 different occasions.....

Both teams take pride in hard hitting dogfight type of games and it would seem like this might support the Under here especially considering LA Vega has faced the Panthers four times since 2015 walking away with 4 wins (33-18 last regular season and 28-18 in playoffs ly)......... The real issue is Liberty Hill has given up a ton of points this year and has escaped with wins in a few shoot outs....... I wouldn't be surprised if La Vega scores 50 here and getting to 21+ points should be an easy task for this high flying Slot-T offense....... Also, LH loves trick plays and going for it on 4th downs so should be interesting game.

Aledo -14
Fort Bend Marshall 73' FS: Aledo 55 FBHHS 19

PASS

If I was to bet it would be on Aledo -14

Anybody who has followed these HSF plays know that I love the game at this level and it's interesting to see who some of these athletes are that head to the Div 1 or 2 Ranks (or even NAIA for that matter)..... Your not going to make much money playing these games as I'm only aware of two books even offering the lines and that's fine....

The reason for the pass despite the fact that Aledo (looking for its 8th State Title) and hitting on all cylinders after the annihilation last week against Wichita Falls (63-7).....And Fort Bend Marshall has only been in existence since 2002....

Last week the Fort Bend Marshall Buffaloes lost a teammate.... I can't imagine how this will affect the psyche of these players and I have no interest in profiting from this game and I hope the Buffaloes can focus enough to put up a challenge....... I have always felt betting on HSF is on the margin. I can't believe that Texas High School Football is still being played this late in the season..... Not sure why.... There are College Players sitting at home and these kids are still going at it.... My hat is off for all these players and Coaches....I will certainly offer up a prayer to the players, coaches, parents and community that had to deal with the loss...

Highland Park -13
Shadow Creek 54'

2 units on Over 54' LOSS.. FS:
HP 27 SC 17

2 units on Highland Park -13 LOSS

Both teams are 15-0, both have nice win streaks going on but one will be disappointed.... Highland Park Scots have a 31 game win run largely behind the strong arm of Jr QB Chandler Morris (6'0" 175 lbs) who has passed for 3,793 yards w/43 TDs and another 637 rush yards w/20 TDs..He has a 65% comp. . In last week's Semis he accounted for 340 yards of offense with 6 TDs..... His main target is Sr WR Finnegan Corwin who has caught 1,570 yards w/16 TDs.... On Defense, DE Prince Dorbah has 15 sacks and 17 hurries, the 4 Star recruit has major Div 1 offers.

Shadow Creek Sharks are quite the surprise to Texas Football as the program returned 7 Off and 6 Def starters from a 5-4 campaign in 2017....Sr QB Jamarian George has 2,961 yards passing and 457 rush yards... The dual threat QB has 40 TDs.... It has been a remarkable journey for a program that has never lost a Varsity game as its a new program but has a few Div 1 prospects that includes 4 Star DB Xavier Alford and Jr Def End Alec Bryant (also 4 Star) (6'3" 230 lbs) *His older brother plays for Indiana... Sr RB Marquez Holand has 1,374 yards on the ground.... The teams 17 game win streak will be tested here.

No doubt Sharks are a huge surprise to be knocking on the door of the Title but they are facing a team shooting for a 3-peat having won State the last 2 years.... Scots are the one of Texas most winningest programs holding the states longest streak.... The program has compiled 831 all time wins and HC Randy Allen is responsible for the pedigree the team brings.... Arkansas QB John Stephen Jones graduated last year after winning 2 State Titles for the Scots..... *Of interest is current QB Chandler Morris Dad is the Coach at Arkansas....

Think the Blue Blood program is the right call although Sharks have the clutch factor.... I think the Over is the strongest bet because both teams will score.... In the end I think Scots get it done by 14+ points.

Longview -14'
Beaumont West Brook 80

2 units on West Brook +14' FS: WB 34 LV 35WIN... Damn has a little on the ML... Thought WB was going to pull it off

2 units on Under 80 WIN

I think this total is a tad high for a Championship game between 2 teams that know each other well and are expected to get chippy.... Longview Lobos (15-0) snuck out with a 3 point win last week to Tascosa (45-42) and West Brook also escaped with a 5 point win over Austin Westlake (35-30).....These two have hooked horns in the Bi-District playoffs with Longview winning 42-21 last year but West Brook winning the year before 34-33.

Lobos Jr QB Haynes King (6'3" 175 lbs) has passed for 3,454 yards w/39 TDs... And has rushed for another 600 yards w/7 TDs.. The QB has an outstanding 72% comp rate and has only suffered 3 INT *His Dad is HC John King in his 15th year with a 166-36 record..... Helping the cause is the 2 Headed Monster RBs Sr Jesse Anderson (1,208 rush yards w/24 TDs) and Sr RB Keilyn Williams (1,509 yards rushing w/13 TDs)... Sr WR Kamden Perry (6'0" 180 lbs) has 1,676 receiving yardsw/17 TDs.....

West Brook Bruins behind Sr QB L'ravien Elia (6'0' 190 lbs) has 2,108 yards passing and 738 rush yards with 30 total TDs.... Sr RB Robert McGrue has rushed for 1,929 yards w/32 TDs *He is capable of going off at any time.... Jr WR Thad Johnson leads all WR with 1,181 yards....

The game certainly has the potential to go over the big number but familiarity breeds contempt and these two hate each other... Both will bring huge crowds and the game should be electric..... Longview gets the nod for the win but with Bruins playmakers I think they can keep it close..... Hopefully a 38-35 type game.

Hey Riff...

Hey Riff...

Whats the line for the Duncanville game?

That is going to be a war. Duncanville has only allowed 95 points on the season and that includes the 35 last week to Allen. I would be leary of the letdown for Duncanville after upsetting the #1 team in the nation and state in Allen. But man... I watched that game. Duncanville really dominated. They were up 35-14 or something at the half and really forced Allen into making mistakes. This defense is solid... But North Shore... Oh North Shore- This team beat Katy twice and man they are just studly. Man, this team will hit you in the mouth, twice then go smack your dad and go home with your girlfriend... They are a hard hitting team. I am so excited for this one. SO upset I do not have access...

Anyway- Looks like you have it rolling. Get them Riff....

Hey Musca, Happy Holidays to you and your family.... Hope the New Year treats you well.

I bet North Shore last night @ -1' and it's now -5'/60....The total hasn't budged that I'm aware of.... Should be a great game as many are predicting that if North Shore wins they might be crowned the best High School Football team ever in Houston... Those are some pretty big accolades. Should have a short write up in a sec.

6A Div 1 Champ..... 5 pm

Duncanville 60
North Shore -5'

2 units on Over 60 WIN FS: NS 41 DV 36

2 units on North Shore -5' LOSS... Hope you got a better number than this.

So this is like the Mater Dei and St John Bosco of CA as the heavyweights get to go after it... I jumped on North Shore at -1' yesterday and even though it's now at -5' I still like it.....

North Shore Mustangs (15-0) are seeking the schools 3rd State Crown and standing in their way is a very good Duncanville Panthers (14-0) squad that is making its first trip to the Championship since 1998 when it won...... Both teams have mega Div 1 talent throughout the ranks and it promises to be a barn burner as Mustangs have scored 816 points this season (6th most in the Nation) and Panthers beat its first 14 opponents by an average margin of 44.5 ppg..... Despite both teams having stellar Defenses and both holding opponents to 10 points or fewer, I think the total gets there as their is too much talent on offense for both schools.

North Shore has the Nation's top ranked Jr RB Zach Evans who is a man amongst boys... Last week he rushed for 196 yards w/4 TDs (all points in the first half) he has 1,685 yards w/29 TDs.

Duncanville ended Allens 31 game win streak last week (44-35)...Allen and Lake Travis (No Shore dispatched 51-10) were expected in this title draw but these 2 have proven they are the real deal... Should be a hoot and 50,000 people are expected to attend this clash of Titans... North Shore rolls again

Not sure if you are watching the game but hell man what a game!
Game is in doubt as I type this with Duncanville up 30-29- Been a hard hitting slobberknocker... Some would say that the refs have been favoring Duncanville but I am not so sure.

Both QB's have missed a few plays due to hits they have taken. Outstanding game. Great weekend of Texas State High School Football.

Riff- Merry Christmas to you buddy! Hope all is well, the family etc. Remember if you need some dog treats let me know. We also have CBD treats. Great medicated treat for the pooch especially since they are giving Xanax, Valium, Trazodone, and tramadol to dogs for basic and chronic conditions! Enough of the salesmanship.... Merry Christmas man! Been a good year and may next year be a safe, healthy, and happy Year!!!

North SHore just took the lead 35-30 pending 2 point conversion

My old girl passes away a couple of years ago and I haven't been up to get a new one yet.... Also my Big Boy (Wolf/Mal) was poisoned while I was on vacation last year (foking neighbor didn't like his howls so the low life poisoned him)... Both pets were my family so it hit me hard.... I wanted to burn the guys house down but he got his.... (all I'm going to say about it)... Merry Christmas!

Unfortunately the HSF Season is coming to an official end :0026.. Once again I was able to turn a decent profit (+42.8 Units) through a lot of research.... Several of the games were as near as you can get to a sure thing as thru some digging there were some variables that the book didn't take into account... It's been fun and I hope some of you were able to turn a small profit. I realize HSF isn't for everyone but as the games become more commercialized and thru TV these kids are getting exposure, I expect the HSF game to become more of a spectator draw. Some of these Coaches are actually making $100,000 a year which of course was unheard of 10 years ago. Anyway, Hope everyone has a Happy FESTIVUS and I wish everyone a huge profit in the New Year :00x9

Special Thanks to Musca and Hawkeye for their input along the way x33:[B/B]
