I know they are only one year removed from a National Championship, but Mack Brown should be fired. He has the best talent in the country year in and year out, yet his teams continue to underachieve. I had money on Texas, but from a truly objective standpoint the Horns were pathetic. Iowa was an average team at best without there stud on D.

The Longhorns are the worst kind of team in sports, talented yet undisciplined and unmotivated.

I will take the slow hard working white farm boys from Iowa over speedy and talented of all colors Texas team any day.

Mack Brown is the only active coach in NCAA Division I-A Football with ten consecutive seasons with nine or more wins. His job is as safe as the Pope's and you are clueless.

Bobby Knight's job was never to be taken away either, idiot!!

Indiana Basketball and Texas Football = 1 in the same.

Also, Mack Brown has done less with more than any coach in the country over the past 10 years. Can you imagine a Stoops, Meyer, or Weiss with Texas talent, these coaches would have Wooden type numbers if they were at Texas.

Nice, you compare Knight's circumstances with Brown's and call me an idiot.

For the record, over the past 10 years exactly that many coaches have won a national championship so I would say that Mack is in pretty good company.

Sorry about your bet but in case you didn't notice, Texas won the game aginst those "slow hard working white farm boys from Iowa." Get 'em next time, killer.

I see it much in the same way as you do wrt Mack Brown. The horns were disppointing this year. Got to give Texas some respect for coming back from a big deficit, and holding on at the end. The turning point came on the called back TD, when the Iowa receivers gave each other the downturned hookem. It was a different and more focused UT team from that time on.

You also have to remember this was the ALAMO BOWL...you don't think there was a little let down factor after being considered in the NC hunt before the KST game. Iowa came out hungry, Texas didn't. Why would you want to fire Mack for taking a FRESHMAN QB, don't forget that fact, and again leading them to a 10 game season and possibly a one-loss had he not get hurt. Yes at the end of the season they underachieved, but before Colt got hurt they were overachieving.

every year mack has one of the top recruiting classes in the nation. vince saved his ass last year. he said this year was his best coaching job? they were supposed to have their best o line ever. they said this could be the best D they have ever had. and this is the product they put on the field? he's a recruiting giant and a coaching midget. a good coach with the talent he's had over the years would have alot more wins, period. were the hell has their rushing game gone? pitiful.

I really wish people took the time to understand something before they just go making these obsurd & off the cuff statements.

You people have no idea what you are talking about. None.

1st question to ask yourself....exactly what state was the Texas program in before Mack Brown arrived??

program was in horrible shape before mack showed up. the mackovic? hiring was the worst of all time. i know mack has turned it around and i'm not saying fire him, but you GOTTA admit this team has gone downhill big time.

They lost one game to Ohio St w/ a freshman QB @ the helm.

Then Colt got hurt vs K-St in the 1st Q & wasnt ready to play vs A&M but gave it a shot.

He set the all-time record for Freshman TD passes this year missing basically a game.

We lost 2 top 10 NFL draft picks & 13 starters last year.

Texas is extremely young full of freshman & sophs starters.

Look at the O alone:

QB McCoy....Frosh
RB Charles......Soph
WR Cosby.......Soph
WR Sweed.......Jr
WR Shipley.......Soph
TE Finley..........Frosh

all the kids you just mentioned were skill position players. what happened to the o line? why can't we run the football anymore? defensive seconday was atrocious. losing griffin and huff hurt more than people thought.

Of course it did, particulary Huff.

K-ST & A&M had 8 consisitantly in the box vs Texas, knowing that Sneed & a hurt McCoy couldnt really throw on them.

The O-line is not a major concern of mine moving into next year.

lakegeorge - Are you suggesting every coach that loses a bowl game be fired? I don't particularly like UT, but they sure as hell are not going to fire Mack Brown nor should they. I don't know who your favorite team is, but whoever it is, they'd be better with Brown as their head coach.
