Ist of all I would like to thank the Akron Zips for playing such a fine game yest.Or Kent for doing the opposite.I don't think I ever had a team playing straight up,half time and under,teaser and parlays all winning.Love those Zips.And I also had the zip-a-do-da-zip-da..song..in my mind all day..Thank you MAC guys for some of the info.
Colorado minus over Nebraska ***
Buffs playing for the B-12 west title.Great defensive team vs Huskies new offense.It's a stampede in the corn field. strong play..
Zona St minus over Zona **
Last time Zona came to Tempe they lost 28-7.Same today.Maybe even worse.
Texas minus over Texas AM ***
I could care less about this rival talk.Texas has dominated the line here in the past 10 yrs going 9-1-1. Of course the number has never been that high but....
Lets talk Heisman Award for a second.Young is in the running with Bush and his buddy.Not a favorite but maybe split votes,etc.No doubt Young is deserving.Well today on national TV Young has the stage to himself.Bush and Leinart are home watching TV.
I think Mack Brown who has been saying some crazy stuff about Young lets him "go off" if he has the oppurtunity.Bush got the headlines with his 530 yds vs Fresno.This is a game for Young to unseat Bush.
AM defense is terrible.Offense with McNeal is OK.But today I don't think AM offense can score vs Texas defense.And UT offense which is 1 or 2 avg 48 pts a game will be able to score at will esp in the 2nd half.
Texas is a homerun team.They scored 26 times on 4 plays.Thats 25 td's and 1 FG.I think Young hits a few homers and Brown will let him get his numbers up. Let the voters see Young today on the stage with no other actors.I know it's political,regional,pre-determined,etc BUT...
The 2005 Heisman ballots are mailed out on Wednesday, November 16th 2005. The ballots are due back to Deloitte, by Wednesday, December 6th. Again, there are 923 votes for 2005.
Quick box story because I have to drive my mother down to Jersey in a hour.
Yest my mother,son and 2 daughters went to my aunts house to eat.My wife was doing a 12 hour shift at the hospital.It was about a 30 mile trip up to Poughkeepsie.I drove my daughters car since my wife took the van that morning because of the snow.I'm driving through a small town along the Hudson River when I look in the back window and see a cop car flashing me over.I pull over and this police officer say's "License,registration and insurance".I say" officer,I'm sorry...we are going up another 10 miles for a thanksgiving dinner....please..I didn't realize I was going that fast". He says 'I clocked you doing 47 in a 35 and you passed three 35 MPH signs going through the village." Again I pleaded" I'm sorry..as I gave him my license,etc.
Now in my car my 3 kids are not laughing out loud but enjoying me pleading my case.But this cop is playing hardball and is about to go back to his car and call it in.Then my mother says from the backseat'' Officer,please...its thanksgiving...do you know who my son is... he's the ...and she tells him my position,what a good person I am... with kids...."his wife is at the hospital right now working with babies"... He's a famos basketball coach and I think he played in this town"...
I've got my head down thinking this is not happening.My freak'in mom who is 86 just keeps going on.My kids are all smiling and smirking during the ordeal.
Finally the officer says "who did you coach for?" I tell him and he reconizes my name." I tell him I'm good friends with the coach in this town" he tells me .."they fired him".But he was my math teacher and one of the best".
Finally the officer says "I'm letting you go coach,drive the speed limit...looking at my mother in the backseat he's says' Ma'm have a nice thanksgiving..I don't get my turkey until Saturday"
He walks back to his car.My kids are laughing and the youngest is already on the cell phone calling Mom.
As I pull out my mother says "What a nice guy..maybe on the way home we can bring him some left overs..poor guy...can't eat till saturday..." I swear the above is the whole truth and nothing but the truth...
And the nite ended with me taking a zantac..to much turkey..
