Here come the rangers again, making ass backward deals. With the exception of landing Park what has this team done to make themselves better? Now they are throwing 25 million at Juan Gone? When will these guys realize that they need pitching to win the AL west? I know Helling stunk it up this year but this guy has been throwing over 200 innings since he broke in.

Oakland, Anaheim, and Seattle may not have the sticks but I believe that Texas is well on their way to another 90 plus loss season.

Can't wait to see what Carl Everett does this year.

couldn't agree more. they need pitching and will take their lumps again this year. juan gone. lol puhleeeeeeeeeze. some teams just can't get out of their own way, and texas is one of those. park was a good pick up. now they need 3 more parks. how is it the a's assemble their staff and the rangers keep stumbling, bumbling and fumbling along? lol oh well, never like the rangers anyway. maybe strawberry will be available after another re hab. better keep your eyes peeled mr. hicks.

Let's see. Where did John Hart come from. Cleveland. And what have the fans been screeming for in Cleveland since 1994. That's right pitching.

Hold onto your seat. The Rangers will score a ton of runs and so will everyone they play. It's exciting baseball to watch. but when you get to the playoffs and have to face a good pitching staff your done.

I am a Rangers fan and let me say a few things on the topic at hand. First of all, I love the fact that Gonzo is coming back to his "home". He will be key in replacing Ledee (.231) and Kapler (.273) in RF. Juan hit .325 with 35HR's & 140 RBI's! This will NOT affect their search for pitching whatsoever. Hart made that perfectly clear, & also stated that Juan would have to take less to come here, & that they would not get into bidding for him. That's exactly what happened.

Secondly, there is no cap in baseball and Hicks is not broke. He can still afford to sign any pitcher that he chooses. That is why the yanks keep winning ... George just keeps buying more good players. Tom will have to do the same if he wants to compete with George. It is as simple as that. You are only buying into media crap (hype) if you start worrying about salaries. A-Rod is the best example. Bottom line is that I love him as a Ranger. If he would have signed with the yanks, I would not get 1 iota of satisfaction from the fact that The Rangers saved a big chunk of cash. If you would rather see the savings than A-Rod in a Texas Uni, then you follow the Rangers (or baseball) for a different reason than I do. I understand how everyone gets sucked into the salary game since it is repeatedly hammered at us with every article we read, but honestly take a second to ponder the reality. The reality is that Hart had said that this would in no way affect their plans to concentrate on beefing up the pitching and I believe him because I don't think that Tom is out of money. I love ARod, BUT Juan had a higher batting average, more HRs, more RBIs. Dude's a stud. In the area of pitching, I think Hart will start looking for great prospects in trades, which won't cost that much. I don't think this changes his strategies for pitching or limits connected to it by the big salary.

One thing that does concern me, however, and this is kind of funny is that there will be so much attitude in the clubhouse you could cut it with a knife. How long before Everett, Rocker, and Juan get into a big brawl with each other, the manager, teammates, and/or fans? There's not enough talent in the world to overcome this kind of bad chemistry.

I realize that Hicks is spending money like he's on a Caminiti coke binge but if this is what it takes to beat the Yankees, so be it. I am also somewhat of an Astros fan and they don't like spending money and that pisses me off. Now if Juan can pitch every 5th day what a deal this will be! Honestly Gonzo gives them another big stick in the lineup and protects A-Rod. A-Rod may hit 80 HR's this season. Pitching hell Texas never has pitching so let'em swing away and have a shitload of 4 hour games.

BTW Dynomite, it's spelled TEXAS.

I dont give damn who U got in the lineup...without the pitching U will not be in the playoffs let alone be in contention....Trust me on that.....Good pitching beats good hitting?>>>Yep.....especially when all a team has is good hitting....texas look for another 86 loses this year....even if it is 14-11 game...a "L" is an "L"....Give me a pitcher who get people out and consistently gets people out and I will take the 242 hitter over the 292 hitter.....Pitching is the key here fellas.....I hate pitchers as they R the goofiest people on the team but damn I hate to admit it they R greatly needed....this isnt slow pictch softball....where U think U can out score opponents and win consistently....pitchers win everytime and TEXAS...U have ZERO

Hey Scotty,

Either a) you didn't read my post or b) you clearly didn't comprehend me saying that this move has no effect on retooling the pitching.

texas look for another 86 loses this year....

Care to wager on that statement? I don't really care how much money you want to stake on it. Go ahead and name the price. I like free money.

care to wager the rangers don't make the playoffs. afterall that's what it is all about and tex is woefully short on that end. and it is true george does buy pitching, and that is why he wins. tino oneill williams jeter brosius spencer soriano posada hardly a rod pudger greer juan palmiero etc but now lets' count rings. hmmmmmmm

moves have had a huge effect on pitching......makes Kapler moveable and he will bring in a decent pitcher maybe in a package deal.....also look to the farm.....number of decent arms and maybe some of the astros success will go north to arlington.......rangers will be tough to deal with.....just wait.....

Maybe down the road but not anytime soon. I would make a friendly wager with you that they lose 85-90 again this year. Maybe a hat or a sweatshirt? I am a Dodger fan, so I am use to crappy baseball and not really trying to take a stab at the team but their management. I am not too familiar with their farm system but do they have some guys that can come in and win 10-13 games right now?

i would say skeet has a clue to what he was saying he has 8 years of pro ball under his belt and 3 years of d1 coaching under his belt.
rangers will put up #'s on o but will give up #'s also will be good for overs at home,as for getting some more pitching that can get them to the next step, don't hold your breath, its to late to grab 3 good arms which they need ,they will now have to wait till end of july because the only guys that will go during spring training are washed up.
park is good but don't know how he will react in club house,he needs to have peace to pitch and that i don't see. picking up burba was a waste of space he has a dead arm and is a few feet short, flat after 3.5 to 4 innings then your looking at a 3-5 run inning after he hits his point. this was a stupid pick up,i think rocker will be fine if he gets back to what got him to where he once was use the fb to set up slider not ass backwards like last year where he got hammered a few times because he tried to use his fb as the out pitch. ass or not he is a tuff lefty and like him or not if he gets on he will be a big lift but you need to get to him to use him ,i would try to use burba as short man 2-3 every other day,and pick up 2 guys out of aaa with heat and a good out pitch the comes on 2 different planes and work their ass off in the spring and they might be able to stay around to the break, then they will have to find 2 studs out on the market.
all in all i say the will be a 500 or below team that gets out scored due to pitching. would like to see them do better but as of now there is no way, pitching and deff shuts down hitting everytime. i think they will be a streak team so as a capper thats what i will look for.

i think they might grab ponson who needs a little change in scenery ,but they'd probably have to deal a decent minor leaguer which might cause problems.
