Belly of the Beast
Green Bay at Detroit -6

This game is for the division lead and I have been waiting for this game for sometime now, was hoping to get a good spot and I think I got one.

First meeting was close until the second half, Rodgers found his rythm and put the Lions away. This time there is no Rodgers and on Detroit's side they have Calvin and Burleson, two WRs they didn't have the first time. Pack coming off a nice comeback tie and the Lions must be shell shocked losing the way they did against Tampa and doing absolutely nothing against Pitt in second half the week before.

Onto this week. Let's face it, the Packers defense is horrible right now, they have some players out, check Jollie's status, but it isn't going to matter. They can't do anything right now, they don't create turnovers and I don't know how they are going to stop them. They have no answers for this offense. Packers will have a difficult time running the ball against that Detroit front, they should manhandle the Pack's O line. Look for them to create a few turnovers. Detroit has been horrible on Thanksgiving but this year they take it all out on the green slime. They paste em.

38 - 17

With or without Rogers, green bay is going to get smoked.

When Det played at GB on Oct 6, you made a similar post to this one. I said then that the time to play Det against GB would be Thanksgiving Day. Now, I agree with you on this one. In your analysis you left out that GB just played 5 quarters and will be tired going on the road and playing another game 4 days later. Also, Det lost to TB by 3 but outgained them 390-229 and lost the turnover battle 5-0. On top of all of this, Det also had a blocked punt, yet still only lost by 3. I'll be in attendance at this one to watch the blowout in person.

I didn't post Detroit to smoke them, then Megatron was announced not playing in game day and I was asked about it and said take Green Bay.

This time the Pack get rolled.

Between Green Bay and Iowa City
Bleacher Report says Detroit has lost nine straight on Thanksgiving, and four of those were losses to Green Bay. And Detroit has lost 23 straight games against Green Bay in Wisconsin. The Lions might be fairly focused on correcting just one of those trends in 2013.

that drop by Calvin at the end there that gave Stafford a pic, wow.. Calvin had big yards against Dallas but fumbled and had another go through his hands for a Stafford pic.

Packers D not creating turnovers they have been accustomed to in recent year.

Yeah they have to somehow create 2-3 turnovers or they have no shot at all....Highly doubt they get them this week....hoping they can stay close in the 4th and see what happens but i'm not planning on that happening.

Lions have the talent to cover double digits ..

and that game last Sunday should have never rested on a catch from Megatron..

that Lions team thought they were going to sleep walk thru a home win and looked like absolute shit doing it..

no reaon in the world for Bush not to be able to open the entire offense for Fatboy at QB and those talented receivers..

They gotta show me..

cuzz there is no quit in these Packers who are fighting really damn hard to hold on until Eric Clapton returns..

Pack are still the elite of the Divison when healthy..

The Stat of Detroit not winning in 12 straight Thanksgiving is alarming! It is one of those "weird" stats that doesn't make a ton of sense? Does it matter that this team as opposed to other teams in past have a make up of different players/coaches and Rodgers isn't playing?

If anyone knows me...I don't play Totals frequently because I tend to be on the loosing side more often than not.

For those who are good at totals- does the Over look attractive in this game? It seems like GB cant stop anybody these days, Detroit should score points and GB should be able to pass and score as well.

I am thinking about betting the over- but want your guys opinion on this?

Thanks!! :toast:

I agree with this, they should now have quit, they are playing for the division. They are the elite when totally healthy but that never happens. If they had Rodgers and all the receivers I would definitely favor them, even though they can't stop anybody and their defense should look slow in this one

Did people watch the VIking/Packer game? Eveyone going crazy for Flynn in Packer country. Lets face the facts here, the VIkings defense shut him down when they wanted to. The stupid coaching staff played a lot of soft zone letting him complete little throws down the field. This happened after it went 23 - 7. Vikes went back to Man and had Pack stopped got called for a chincy hold then on 4th and 6 idiot Viking jumps offsides then throws one up for grabs on delayed penalty for first and goal.

Over time Vikes played man and he did burn us and then drive stalled and settled for fg. Vikes went back into man and put pressure up middle and the guy couldn't do shit. This guy is not going to score the 40 points they will need. Minnesota and PONDER did anything they wanted to. Detroit in a rout

Not surprised to see you picking against the Packers, but I do agree with the pick. Living in WI, heard several times the past 3 days how Flynn was going to rescue our season. Most of us Packer fans are in denial, but the truth simply is, we are shit without Rodgers. This is new to us. Quarterback is a position we haven't had to worry about since 1991. It's been so good at QB for so long, that any Packer fan under 35 years old thinks we can put anyone under center and win. The last 4 weeks showed that's not the case.

I play softball with some Packer fans who are 21 - 25, they are in denial about the position, and they act like the Packers have never had a losing season in Franchise history, I tell them that there was no Lambeau Mystique from 1970 - 1993 and they just call me a hater.

On a side note, I will pick Green Bay, the reason why I haven't picked the Packers much over past 2 years is because their defense is God Awful, but I fail to forget that they usually create turnovers, and Rodgers bails them out. So I always expect their defense to fail. EVERYONE BLAMES CAPERS.. I blame Ted Thompson as well. You can't always build your team from the draft especially on defense. They need to find some defensive free agents, they don't need super stars, just steady players.
