Coincidence I googled this a few months back. Was looking for a state that didn't screw you on retirement benefits.

Wasn't any place I was looking to relocate.

I could live in Washington. It's quite nice along the Columbia River.


My dad retired there after almost 60 years in Texas. He lives in a town called Colville which is real close to that river. He has always been a city/suburb guy(Houston) and decided to buy 190 acres out there in the mountains.

After 8 years or so, he absolutely loves it but could do without the winters. There is one drawback though......those bastads turned him into a semi-democrat from a total republican!

He does find himself going into Seattle more often these days to get away from the monotonous of nature, he still craves a little city action and Spokane doesn't offer much in that regard.
