I don't usually post a lot of personal stuff on here but I had a very close friend call me today to tell me he was diagnosed with colon cancer on Friday. They are starting aggressive chemotherapy tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with colon cancer inparticular? From what I understand survival rate is not great. I have had many friends and coworkers deal with prostate cancer and live long happy life's so I am praying for the same for him.

It's so ironic, he has always been on me about how bad I treat myself. I just turned 35 but I still drink like I am 21...Whiskey and plenty of beer most nights after work...Fast food and eating terrible... The most exercise I get is riding in a boat or driving a golf cart and drinking beer the whole time... This guy just turned 45, has been a vegetarian since 23, rides a bike 3-6 miles at least 3-4 times a week and I have never seen him drink more than two light beers in one sitting...

Any insight and prayers are much appreciated

Bad news for sure.

The hopeful news I can give u though is that many people survive with colon cancer! There are many kinds of "colon" cancers with different treatment options. His healthy lifestyle will also be very beneficial. If you have any specific questions about the proposed treatment plan, you can post them. Be hopeful he can recover. Offer to take him to chemo if he has to go, mow his grass (or do any fix-it jobs/chores he won't be up to during treatment), and communicate with his wife closely for any other needs you can fill.

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys! We texted a couple times during his Chemo yesterday and he was in good spirits. I have definitely told him I great at running errands! Again thanks gentleman!
