ESPN says it won't renew Bill Simmons' contract
ESPN will not renew the contract of Bill Simmons, ESPN president John Skipper said Friday. Simmons has been with ESPN since 2001.

Can't say I'm surprised. There were rumors of him leaving when his contract was up after his suspension last fall for his critical (and warranted) comments of Roger Goodell. Looks like ESPN is going to keep running the Grantland network without him. I'd expect the content quality to drop off there over time without Bill's presence. Most of the contributors there are his personal friends. Hopefully he keeps doing his own Podcasts, but I'd surprised if he didn't.
