LoL

The Nationals only hope to stay relevant is to trade Chris Sale or Andrew Miller and possibly a Charlie Blackmon or Brett Gardner.

yeah, those 19 home runs he's allowed must have been a fluke.

He's a big arm who's got a bigger arm with the ladies. Hope he blows every meaningful game the Cubs ever have. He'll choke in the big one just like he choked out his girlfriend. Fuck him.

A head case is a head case.. and at the moment he gets stressed the Head case Blows up on you.....

How many people here gave pumped 8 shots into a wall after a argument..............I rest my case .. I hope !!!

Eight times Aroldis Chapman fired a gun inside the garage of his Miami-area home around 11 p.m. last October after an argument with his girlfriend.

Before spraying those bullets into a concrete wall, the Davie (Fla.) police report alleges Chapman choked the woman and pushed her against the wall ? though no charges were filed due to "conflicting stories and a lack of cooperation from all parties involved.'' Whatever happened that chaotic night, Chapman's girlfriend felt frightened enough to exit his house and hide in the bushes until more than a dozen police officers were dispatched to the scene, the report says.

Now that the Cubs have traded for Chapman, the hardest-throwing closer in baseball, Chairman Tom Ricketts needs to immediately explain his thinking. With domestic violence one of the most significant issues confronting professional sports, Ricketts owes Chicago an explanation for why the Cubs would be willing to compromise their integrity to increase their chances of winning a World Series. Ricketts needs to demonstrate he understands exactly what the move says about the Cubs and that he realizes what's possibly at stake in terms of credibility and accountability. How does getting Chapman square with the clubhouse character and good citizenship Ricketts often mentions when discussing The Cubs Way?

Acquiring a player with Chapman's recent history is not be the kind of transaction the Cubs can casually consider to be just another big move at the trade deadline. Ricketts cannot just rely on Cubs president Theo Epstein and general manager Jed Hoyer ? baseball guys ? to detail how Chapman shortens the game and widens the championship window this year. That's their job to improve the roster as much as possible. Epstein and Hoyer deserve every benefit of the doubt when it comes to building good baseball teams. The Cubs getting Chapman goes well beyond baseball. It goes to what a baseball team wants to stand for.

I guess I really don't understand the big deal about the Cubs getting him. Literally only four teams have blown less saves this season than the Cubs. The Mets top the league with only 6 blown saves so let's assume that is best case scenario (since it is). By picking up Chapman they improve my 4 games just over half way through the season so like 3.5 balance of the way.

Really? Picking up a guy who MAY help you win 3 or 4 more games is this big of a deal?

yea, I get it, it's about the playoffs. When only 4 teams are marginally better than you at a position I don't think that is what you should have focused on.

This deal is overrated, by a lot.

The cubs are 55-1 with lead going into the ninth this season.

They are .914 with lead after sixth inning.

Cubs are +350 to win world series, I have zero interest investing in those odds, anything can happen in a best of 7 series.

Orioles +1200 Red Sox +1200 and houston +1300 have more value then the cubs imo.

They have one loss when they have a lead going into the ninth so 3-4 wins may be too much for a guy who pitches one inning. He may be worth a win the rest of the way. At reference his WAR is 1.3 this season at fangraphs he is at 1.4 WAR.

I think the cubs overpaid for him.

How is he the best closer in history of baseball??

He isn't even the best closer in baseball right now.

Just because he throws hard does not mean he is the best.

Familia and Britton have been better this year then Chapman.

So Chapman is better then Mariano? Eck? Hoyt Wilhelm? Lee Smith?
Hoffman? Quis? Goose?

Cubs lost in the bottom of the ninth tonight without him

Sent from my SM-G928P using Tapatalk

That was a spot the closer does not usually pitch in.

They were down two in top ninth, tied it up and lost it in bottom half.

Usually closers are saved for when they have the lead going into the bottom half.

Who is honestly going to compete in a 7 game series with the Cubs right now? I liked the Giants, but they need pitching help BAD and they need to get healthy. They got Bum and Cueto that's it! Everyone else SUCKS! The Shark is overrated gives up way too many HR's! Giants don't have the bats to go toe to toe with Cubs maybe when healthy. The Nationals are the other team........they are pretty solid, but do have some holes to fill.

Just face it.....it's the Cubs year! Arrow stated they are the old Yankees buying a title...at this point whatever it takes. 108 years is ridiculous! Soon as they got Madden we all knew he would get them there in a couple years after he solidified himself. He's got the team to do it this year! History proves dude is a mastermind motivator in the postseason with no name players. Difference here this team has legit ball players with great chemistry that play together. Cubs get to the World Series and most likely win it.....I can't think of any American League team who could go toe to toe in a 7 game series with them as of now
