Tampa Bay escaped Philadelphia with a 27-10 win over the Eagles last Sunday in the NFC Championship Game. The Buccaneers' offense scored two offensive touchdowns and Bucs cornerback Ronde Barber secured the win by intercepting Eagles QB Donovan McNabb and returning it 92 yards for a touchdown.
THE LAST TIME THE BUCS AND RAIDERS MET: The Buccaneers and Raiders met in Oakland during the 1999 regular season. Oakland downed Tampa Bay in that contest, 45-0. The Bucs rebounded from that loss and eventually played the St. Louis Rams in the NFC Championship Game.
BUCS-RAIDERS SERIES: Tampa Bay and Oakland have met just four times during the regular season. The Buccaneers were just 1-4 in those contests. The Bucs' only win against the Raiders came back in 1996 when the Bucs downed the Raiders in Tampa, 20-17.
BUCS AND RAIDERS IN THE SUPER BOWL: This will be Tampa Bay's first trip to the Super Bowl. The Bucs had previously played in - and lost -- two NFC Championship Games before Sunday's big win over the Eagles.
Oakland has won three of the four Super Bowls (Super Bowl XI, Super Bowl XV and Super Bowl XVIII) they've played in. The Raiders' last trip to the Super Bowl was in 1984 when the Raiders downed the Washington Redskins, 38-9, in Super Bowl XVIII, which was played in Tampa, Florida.
