Thanks for your thoughts, IE, they are appreciated........Looks like i am going to escape the worst of it as i am a bit south of the big stuff. Folks there need alot of thoughts, they are really getting pelted. So far only about 70 mph winds and rain right here.........some trees down, about a million without power and alot of flooding by the beach areas.
It sure was a scare, seeing a 145 mph monster slowly creep your way. I probably only got 10-20 hours of sleep the whole week as preparations go alot farther than just evacuating.......you need a week's supply of non perishable food, water , batteries, candles, first aid stuff. maybe your safe deposit box will be underwater, so that isnt the answer for most of your valuables. pets to think about and any and everything you value must be wrapped and/or secured. (and I have alot). And what you consider to be secure, may not be if your roof is up the avenue somewhere. Or, if a tree falls on the house, opening it to the rain & fury. House must be shuttered up, etc., etc...You must be prepared to be without power for an unknown length of time, up to a week is not uncommon.
And that's only for me..........there are neighbors to think of & help and some of my family needed help also.
And, another storm, Ivan, is brewing in the Atlantic, starting to take the same track as Frances and Charley did.
Geez, I am just getting over Charley as I have friends in that area and vacation there. Beautiful area & people, along with nature & wildlife preserves. The place where I stay when I am there had 4 feet of water inside. The restaurant where I ate my last meal when I was there last is gone.
A hell of a week, what a ball ! I somehow wound up sleeping through a lot of today's storm action as i was exhausted..........a small price to pay, however, as my family, pets & I am going to be safe this time. Others in the middle of the storm will not be so lucky.

GL to everyone in the path...........THE HITMAN

Again. IE, thank you for your thoughts & concern. Pretty much over for me, escaped with only a few thousand in damages & losses.
I lost 10 lbs this week (seriously) but must have picked it back up in grey hairs . Have several friends with businesses that have evacuated and have called & asked about their properties. It took me 1/2 hour of convincing & begging, but the police finally let me through to the east to check for them. Not pretty, buildings were basically intact, but signs, awnings, shingles, tiles, windows, aluminum etc. are gone. Power lines down all over. Interiors have a foot of wet sand and nature wise, the sorriest sight was that it looks like half of the beach area is just gone. Large waves & swells come inland and then head out again, carrying the beach sand with the reverse flow.
Don't know which is worse, the rain or the wind. Still have 40mph here and tons of bands of rain.
Thanks for the kind words and offer of help. I am fine.........but I join with you and extend an offer of help to any MJ 'er upstate. Billions in damages, I noted just one Marina which stores 5-6 Million $ in yachts etc..............destroyed.

Thanks GM.........all is OK, just really busy cleaning up, sure wish I could get a garbage pick-up, tho. Now, the rest of the East coast is drowning. Lucky you don't have such up there in Canada. I guess that's the price we pay for balmy winters.
I have always considered you one of the more intelligent posters on the board. And, for sure, one of the under-rated NFL cappers. As you know, our thoughts on games usually seem to run very close. Scary, sometimes.
Will look forward to going up against you in the Infinity contest this year......nice finish last season, you won $500, right??
As a footnote, I remeber you making some good comments about the Direct TV dish system. I left mine up during the storm, intact, didn't disconnect anything (not even the (lnb) I figured if he storm is bad enough, I wouldn't have power anyway. And it's going on 10-11 years old, so I woud just get another if it was destroyed. Well, It stayed put,it didn't budge an iota. I didn't even need an adjustment after 70 mph winds. I had reception throughout the entire storm, less maybe 1/2 hour or so when it staggered for a bit.
So guys, bolt it up right and you will be rewarded.
GL this season.............THE HITMAN
