A hero of the 2011 Tucson, Arizona shooting was escorted out of the Capitol on Wednesday after she shouted at lawmakers.
?Shame on you!? Patricia Maisch and Lori Haas yelled after the Senate rejected an amendment to gun legislation that would have required background checks for firearm sales at gun shows and on the Internet.
?It was spontaneous, but I was prepared to do that,? Maisch told reporters as Capitol police escorted her out of the building. ?They are an embarrassment to our country.?
Maisch wrestled a 9mm handgun and fully loaded magazine away from Jared Loughner after he killed six people and wounded 14 others, including former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) in 2011.
?We?re sick and tired of the death in this country and these legislators stand up there and think it?s a bunch of numbers,? Haas added, according to the Washington Post. ?It?s a shame, it?s appalling, it?s disgusting.?
