SUPER BOWL XXXVII
Gruden has always held his own when up against coaches he was with in Green Bay (Holmgren, Reid, Mariucchi, Rhodes). Gruden has been the focal point of a quiet week, and the leadership he has provided is evident in the respect and confidence I sense in his team.
I give at least a slight edge to Tampa for peaking as a team at just this moment in time. ("We've been preparing a long time for a game like this," Gruden said. "Sometimes you tend to overanalyze or over-gameplan some things. But in Week 22 or whatever it is [actually 21], we're going to do the things that got us here." ) I am looking for the Bucs to look quick to the ball and quick off the ball and totally together. Others are obviously expecting it to be the other way around.
The Bucs have not come out of nowhere this year with a dominant defense. Lining up against the No. 1 defense in the NFL usually offers the shock of plunging in an icy river more so than lining up against the No. 1 offense. The Raider's mix of patience and balance has been suspect.
With Brad Johnson back at quarterback the Bucs have put together four touchdown drives of over 70 yards in their last two playoff games.
"Just win, baby." The Lombardi Trophy. Why the great ones play the game.
A Commitment to Excellence vs. the long suffering Pewter Pirates.
Those are some of my reasons for taking the live dog.
TAMPA BAY(+3') for 1.5*
TEASE Tampa(+9' and Ov37') for 0.50*
