Very interesting. Basically they are hypothesizing that we brought the disease upon ourselves by using monkey vaccines. I almost threw up when they were talking about dissecting monkeys alive to harvest their blood and organs. We are some sick humans and I guess we are paying for our "sins". We were put here to be caretakers of the earth and animals, not destroyers. As the "alpha" animals I believe it is our duty, not a choice.

I have been to Africa and grew up living with many Africans... despite their poverty and hardships they are some of the most joyful happy people I have ever met. It is true we often neglect the poor and don't think twice about them, but I think about the devastation there every day. It's really sad...

Thanks for posting.

Wow, thanks a lot for posting this SC.

To expand upon the explanation of The Happy One:
In a race to develop the replacement for Jonas Salk's polio vaccine (which is derived from monkey cells), one doctor went to the Congo and used chimpanzees vs the types of monkeys that had been used to that point. The advantage to using chimp cells is that they are easier to work with since the multiply quickly (I believe that was it) but the problem is that some chimps carry a virus (SIV) that is the equivalent to HIV in humans. Since the vaccines are known to harbor more than just the virus needed for the polio cure, it was possible for SIV to be transmitted in the polio vaccinations......and there you have it.

A good portion of the video is interviews with the doctors involved in the Congo based vaccine denying that they ever used chimps.....the other portion is evidence supporting the fact that they did use chimps.

Something I thought was pretty wild: Chimps injected with HIV do not develop AIDS, they develop antibodies and the HIV disappears. Too bad it didn't work the other way around.

I learned a lot about AIDS (or so I thought) in a class back in high school. The info mainly covered the transmission of AIDS from Africa to America...blaming a gay Flight Attendant named Gaetan Dugas (sp?), also known as Patient Zero.

As explained in the video, a lot of the backlash against this hypothesis is that it would mean that the Westerners are responsible for infecting the world with AIDS, not those dirty Africans.

If you have 90 minutes, I urge you to watch this.

not trying to be a smart ass but so would appreciate any answer that is not sarcasic--throughout history life threatening contagious diseases have always been fought by two cardinal rules- indentifying carriers and isolating them
--if you wanted optimum chance of spreading appears to me the opposite would be true--keep carriers anonymous and give unlimited areas of travel.

So why do we do the latter-

Is this your way of saying we should quarantine all of the AIDS/HIV infected people?

Don't know about quarantine--but just can't understand why they use current regulations which quarantee the optimum chance of spreading aids.

I don't think there is a regulation that you could have (besides quaratine for all infected) to stop the spread. I know what hasn't helped: Cardinal Alfonso Lopez de Trujillo warning people that condoms have many microscopic holes through which AIDS can pass, rendering condoms ineffective against AIDS. Being the head of the Vatican's Pontifical Council for the Family, this idiot is sending a message that is not only deadly but is coming from a position of knowledge and power.

If we aren't going to take drastic measures (quarantine) we need to promote condom use.

Might have worked in the beginning, but seems unworkable now.

The virus starts too slowly, so people have it for years sometimes before they know it. It would require testing everyone in the country (world?) at least once a year.

Not sure how that could be managed. Not sure how you could quarantine someone for 10-20 years.

Even absent "political correctness" this would seem really hard to deal with.

Aside from the general observation, how would you plan it out? Even a rough draft would be interesting.

Would Magic Johnson be allowed out of internment to work the booth for the next NBA playoffs? (I had to add SOME sarcasm).
