I remember in the early 80's how I felt like a closet drug addict when people found out I gambled on sports, played poker and bet on horses ..........Now these days with poker tourneys on ESPN and all the televised sports its like you're not with the "in crowd" if you dont wager on anything........Have times changed or what..........

That reminds me of that line from "Casino" when Ace Rothstein first arrives in Vegas. (paraphrasing)

"For the first time in my life, I was legit. Before, I was a degenerate, a gambler, a bookie, always looking over my shoulder. Out here, I'm Mr. Rothstein. Vegas is like a morality carwash. It does for us what Lourdes does for humpbacks and cripples."

And now, it's all good wherever you are.

Boy are you so right. For some one as I did make my first bet 1959/60. We told no one. Now on Saturdays I go to a local bar and play the horse by satellite. We play poker right in the corner of the bar. When football comes around the conversation is on who to play that weekend. No more hiding.

Damn, DJV, my Mom was 4 when you made your first bet. That's a testament of your perseverence in this game.
