In the early game is the Total. I like most on this board prefer to back the braves in the early game as it seems the astros are already feeling the October pressure after yesterday's loss.

In this article which I found here at MJ's, posted by dr. freeze, thanks doc!

You can see that the players are questioning the manager and perhaps even thier own abilities as the astros bullpen have blown a save in the last seven straight playoff games.

So although i have a slight lean to the braves, I believe the total has better value. At first glipmse with Glavine on the mound, and Meriwether behind the plate (O/U 8/26) the under looked sweet. However if you look a bit closer you will see some serious reasoning to play on the OVER 9

The over has cashed in six out of the last seven in the meetings between these two clubs this year. The pitching supports this as well. Milicki has been a batting practice machine in his last ten outings. the over has come in at 8-1-1, and in his last three his era is over 8, and the over is 2/0. in daytime starts he has an era over four, and at enron it is over six, and he gives up the longball every chance he gets. He has given up seven home runs in just 17 innings pitched! Finallly he has pitched one game against Atlanta this year and that one too went over.
On the other side is Glavine, and although he has pitched very well of late the Over has been 2/0 in his last three and that is mainly due to run support. The braves average over 6 runs a game for Glavine, and with milicki's numbers that should continue to say the least. Glavine's era duriong the day is 3.81, which is the highest is era is in any category across the board. The braves are 8-2 in glavine's last ten starts vs. the astro's and in those eight wins the O/U is 5/2-1.

Hitting wise the braves are on fire. Even if you take away the 20 run game against the fish, the braves are averaging 6 runs a game. Brian Jordon and chipper jones are also on fire, look for more of this today. Lifetime vs Milicki, Jordan is batting .538 with 3 HR's, and Jones is coming in at .368 and two HR's.

Although Glavine is a great pitcher there are several astros that hit him well too:

Bags .350 / 2 HR's
Hildago .391
Lugo .364
Vizcanio .350
and even the pitcher is 2/3 vs. Glavine

The bulklpen for the astros will help this total go over has they have completely loss any confidence.

And finally Meriwether, I mentioned he is a huge under ump, but in his last six games behind the plate for the braves the O/U is 5/1, and the last two with Glavine they have both gone Over. his last couple of games behind the plate with Milicki those have also gone over. The game is in enron, and even the umpire cannot control a hitters park.

I look for Glavine to start off slow, which seems to be normal lately, and the this game to end in a high scoring shootout.

Final Score: Braves 9 Astros 3
