Long story, short....I play mostly online, but my buddy calls today and asks if I want to make a run to the "casino" for a beer (it is basically a slot parlour with an OTB). My oldest guy has gone with Grampa for a couple hours, and my wife and youngest one have a nap scheduled, so I am good to go....I had handicapped the Gulfstream card Saturday night after everyone was in bed, so I grabbed some cash to play my pick 4 at the OTB....not studying the scratches close enough, I get to the window and start rhyming numbers off, only to learn that one of my plays in the 9th (second leg) was scratched, so I go with another in that race.....We have couple beers and head for home, where I watch my pick 4 come up unsuccessful after looking at my original notes. No big deal, thought I had lost and didn't pay much more attention to it.....For whatever reason, I remember that I threw in another horse in wake of that scratch....That horse I added paid $19.30 and led to a Pick 4 of $1087.30.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. :00hour

Awesome story!

Awesome story!

Good story. :toast:

I remember tailing someone here, and ended up hitting the pick 6 at Santa Anita, thinking I lost, and really not knowing much about horse racing at the time (even less than the thimble full of knowledge I have now) and it paying almost a grand for however I had bet it. :00hour

Guys....my best handicapping skills are just plain dumb luck.

Buddy calls yesterday and wants to know if I want to go for a drive to the market and pick up some fish...We sort of go out of our way on the way home to hit this same location again to bet a horse and have a beer....I see the 6 at Gulfstream in the walking ring who looks nice....I went and bet $20 on him....for whatever reason, I look at the ticket and the seller gave me Aqueduct.

I went up to try to cancel it, but the fucker had already paid $53.90!! :mj07:

Gave him a nice tip and still had time to bet the horse I originally wanted....he paid $24.00.

My little guy and I had gone to the pet store in the am to buy dog food and came home with a gold fish. We have to keep that guy from floating....he could be our lucky charm! :mj07:
