This came from the notoriously liberal Los Angeles Times concerning congress and healthcare.
1. Their plan has 10 health choices with access to doctor's nationwide.
2. There are HMO's in every state. In California, they have 11 options.
3. They are eligible for special treatment at Bethesda Naval Medical Center and Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
4. For an additional $300 per month (House) or $600 per month (Senate) they have access to Capitol Hill's team of doctors, nurses and medical personnel.
5. 75% of their premiums are covered by...you guessed it, taxpayers.
6. They have coverage regardless of a pre-existing condition.
7. No waiting period.
8. Under the Blue Cross plan favored by a majority, there are available a vast array of medical benefits for medical, dental, and vision with a $20 co pay for doctor's visits.
9. Immunizations are free.
10.Generic prescriptions are $10.
In contrast, 85% of private companies offer only 1 type of plan - take it or leave it. Many of the medical offices are conveniently located between the house and senate chambers. Taxpayers spent about 15 BILLION dollars last year to insure federal workers and their dependents. So why CAN"T Joe Public have the same medical care? SImple - too expensive.
I hope this puts to bed the notion that the public will receive health care on the same level as federal employees.
