I have been thinking for the last week that the White Sox might be the best team in the American League after all. However, after watching them gift-wrap Game 1 for the Angels, I don't think so anymore.

First Posednik runs on a hit and run that was not and gets thrown out with nobody out and #2, 3 and 4 hitters coming up.

Taguchi made a horrible pivot on the critical double play ball that allowed a run to score. Any Little Leaguer knows that the second baseman should take the throw from the pitcher and step across the bag out of the baseline to make the throw to first. Very bad fundamental baseball for a major leaguer!!

Posednik did not even come close to getting the sacrifice bunt down in the eighth. Two poor attempts and then he watches strike three when he should have been protecting the plate. If the sacrifice is successful, the run scores later in the inning on Dye's single to right.

Rowand does not complete the sacrifice in the ninth. He squared to bunt way too early, giving Figgins at third a chance to creep way in and throw the runner out at second.

Too bad they wasted the nice pitching performance by Contreras and the bull pen. Now they have put themselves in the hole and already have a must-win situation in Game 2.

I am pulling for the Sox, but I think the Angels have better team fundamentally....

Man, you are right. Definitely some of the worst fundamentally played baseball for a playoff game I've ever watched. You failed to mention the fact that Jermaine Dye trying to bunt his way on to start the inning. Are you kidding me? Even the announcers couldn't believe that. This guy hit over 30 home runs this year and he tries to bunt his way on base. I wonder how many bunt singles he had this year, my guess is none.

ALso AJ thought there was a hit and run on in the 8th and there wasnt and he was thrown out at 2nd by Benji. The count was 0-1 and not many peeps do a hit and run with that count

According to interviews I have read, the Sox 3rd base coach may have put the hit and run on and wiped it right back off and AJ didnt see the latter. Both Crede and Ozzie said there was no hit and run on and AJ said he thought it was. Bottom line is you wont see the Sox play that poorly tonight. They should have won last night but the did not execute anything and the Angels execution was flawless yesterday. I like the Sox tonight 6-3.

I hope you are correct, Fab, but I don't have the same faith in the White Sox as you do. I did before watching last night's game. Now I think that Posednik's inexperience, as well as the inexperience of the rest of the team, will be too much for them to overcome. Especially, in light of the fact that the Angels have been there before and the experienced Scoscia is a far better manager than Guillen.

If the Sox don't win tonight, they may not win a game. I think they may be satisfied to be as far as they have gotten.
