Here are my nominees, not necessarily in order of incompetence:

The bottom: Everett Stull, Ryan Rupe, Nate Cornejo, Ruben Quevado, Blake Stein

Just about the bottom: Jose Lima, Chris George, Ryan Drese, Luke Prokopec, Calvin Maduro

What about Julian Tavarez???
Mike Hampton has been brutal this year
Joe Mays has been abominable

Eric Hiljus
Jon Garland
Dave Burba
David Coggin
Ron Villone (even though he is in the pen again)
Rick Helling

I slightly disagree about Maduro. He is doing an admirable for a converted releiever and his ERA is not too bad as are his WHIP etc.

Remember that Dog Carlos Perez? MAN I think the Dodgers still owe him money

LOL. I definitely considered those. I thought about a special category for guys like Hampton and Burba; pitchers who once were good and are now past their prime. Garland and Villone could definitely be used. Helling pitched in that launching pad at Arlington so I can't hold that against him. I think of Coggin and Hiljus more as mediocre; not incredibly bad like the 10 guys I mentioned in the original post. I wouldn't put Taveras in there either. I know he hasn't done much this year, but he missed a bunch of starts and he was fairly decent last year.

I was looking at Rupe's numbers today; he has had a couple of bad games but remember it's a lot tougher pitching for a team like TB which doesn't give you any run support and makes a lot of fielding mistakes.

Guys like Paul Abbott (SEA) and Danny Wright (ChiSox) have much higher ERAs but have better teams behind them so they don't look so bad.

Abbott was something like 17-5 last year so you can't put him in. Yeah, he's terrible this year but its possible he could turn it around. Danny Wright and Garland both could be tossed in the bottom 10. The White Sox really could've used Fogg, Lowe and both Wells this year. With that lineup, if they had even modestly competent 3-5 starters they would win 100 games. I saw one newspaper guy here refer to the Sox as "Ritchie and Buerhle and get out in a hurry".

Valuist, I agree with you in many aspects.

Burba used to be very dependable and would sponge up innings but has gotten too fat and old.

I would not throw Abbot in there yet either as he has been hurt.

Mediocre: Man I would go over on the character spaces LOL

One thing about Helling, he is still giving up meatballs with the DBacks. He will give you innings but you better give that guy 5 runs per night.

Although I think Cornejo sux right now he has a big upside. He may be a good one but you just never know:)

Most overrated?

Scott Schoeneweis. He's had an ERA over 5.00 every year he's been in the majors w/a 20-26 record. Yet you hear him described as some sort of crafty lefty. Gimme a break. If that's crafty, I'll take a stupid righty.

Cornejo is from my hometown. He's not mentally ready for the bigs yet. Drafted out of high school from a small town. Got to Detroit too soon because the Tigers were desperate. He's got great stuff, but doesn't know how to pitch. I'm not trying to disparage the kid, but he's not an Einstein and obviously not mature enough yet to handle the situation the Tigers have put him in. Hopefully he won't be too damaged by these early shellings. I think he still has a bright future.
