This past weekend's action from a bookmaker's point-of-view

It?s that time of year when we start seeing major line moves in the bases. This weekend was a good example of those moves, and unfortunately they weren?t kind to us. They players made out like bandits, but hey that?s baseball!
Saturday saw the Mets and Pedro Martinez open at -260 against the Dodgers and something called J.D. Houlton and close at -300, even -320 at certain shops. As one player put it ?I?ll take the free money on Pedro for $100?. We also saw a big line move when the Braves opened at -121 against the D?Backs. We watched the players bet the game like they had tomorrow?s newspaper. The line rose all the way up to -140 by the first pitch! That?s two big ones Saturday that moved 40 cents and 19 cents respectively with absolutely no steam behind them!
Sunday was more of the same with the Mets again seeing a large line move. This time they moved 15 cents from -138 all the way up to -153 and again the money was coming from the public, no syndicates or wise guys involved! Speaking of monster line moves, how about this move Sunday? The Yankees & Angels opened at a pick ?em, -105 either way and the Yanks closed as an amazing -130 favorite. That?s two more monster moves of 15 and 25 cents. These games are really moving lately, keep an eye on them as there is money to be made with these moves.
Until next week, may all your wagers be winners?..
