The year is 1907.....but the speaker knew what he was talking about.

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

If Ole Teddy said that today he'd be run out of office and lambasted 24/7 by the cable talking heads...

Henry Ford was of the same ilk. Does the term "Melting Pot" mean anything?

i have no problem with immigrants coming into this country if it's done legally.....my wife followed the laws of this country to become a citizen, why shouldn't others.

Agreed. In Cawlifawnya, Bing cherries were $6.00 a pound, tomatos $3.00, apples, oranges, pears $2.50. Produce is rotting on the farms because there is no one to pick, pack and ship them. Produce is rotting on the store shelves because people can't afford to buy it.
The difficult thing about solving a problem, is that it usually creates 2 or 3 less solvable ones.
Mexican immigration has been a problem for a 150 years. Why wig on it now?

Maybe because they're sucking the entitlement programs dry, creating crime everywhere and are generally not an asset to the country? They are bleeding U.S. taxpayers dry.
