Don't overreact about a performance from a week ago.
That is an excellent one. Taking that a step further... look for good teams that underperformed last week going up against bad teams that overperformed last week. Good example of that this week would be Philly & San Fran (not that I am in the habit of laying 13 pts).
Other good rules:
? Never chase. If you have a bad day, let it be, don't go huge on the late game to try to get it back.
? Know when to stop. If you've had a good day, consider shutting it down and taking your profit.
? Bet the same amount on every game, all the time, whether you like it a little or a lot. There's nothing worse than going 5-2 on your picks and still managing to lose money because your biggies fell through. I can't tell you the number of times my best bet has lost but my other picks have saved the day for me.
? Watch for "sandwich" games & letdown situations. Atlanta may be the definition of a letdown today. Big win over hated Philly on Monday, but did they show up today....? New England could be considered a sandwich situation. Season-opener last week complete with banner raising ceremony, and big game vs Pitt on deck next week, but were they fully prepared to play the game in-between?
? Never lay between 7 and 12 points.
