my two "sense" worth.
1) value is good...as MIKE said.....
dawgs last year seemed to dominate as i got lambasted by high chalk.....i learned from that lesson and won't do it again this year in hockey.....
2) totals: seems the magic number was five last year....lots of hockey games fell right BANG ON this number as i had about 35 pushes in totals alone...don't think anyone in this forum had more pushes than I....
this season is a new story....who knows what's gonna happen with the "new" rules this season...we'll see....
3) teams on days rest : always a factor with some teams in both betting the side AND the total.
4) what DAY do the teams play on....???
st.loo and some other teams played well on SATURDAYS, while chicago played well at home on sundays....seems that some teams play way better on certain days than other teams....these two being good cases and points.
5) streaky teams....bet on a team with a hot streak of winning or being undefeated 3 games in a row...i think 3 is the magic number here...
6) backup goalies....this is one of the HARDEST things to look for if you're not on the ball....this usually happens in back to back games where the starter will play one nite and then the next game, the backup will get the call.....or vice versa.... there was MANY a nite where i laid off a game, or bet on a game because i thought one goalie instead of the other was playing...
some guys in here are good at posting lineups and goalies just before game time.....
7) past and recent history/matchups...
to a point i would look at this angle....i mean, how can you go against detroit dominating vancouver over the last 25 games or so...??? can't remember the stat.....ill find it though.
