A common theme in the link is "the media won't cover this."
Here's something I learned years ago.

I was heading into my office at a casino on the strip, using the back entrance.
I see a couple security guys I know, standing around a sheet-covered body.

I asked them, "What happened?" and they said, "Jumper."

Being new to town, I was unaware that casinos have a jumper problem.
Apparently, it's a dirty little secret in Vegas - it's not uncommon for a guy to "borrow" corporate funds, or the kids college funds, and fly out to Vegas for a weekend because they have a "system" - blackjack, roulette, sports, whatever - that can beat the house.

They have the perfect plan. They'll take the money, use the system to make a bundle of cash, and return the funds before anyone notices them missing.

But, as the poet Robert Burns said, "The best laid plans of mice and men sometimes go tits up."

When their system fails, they face the ugly prospect of returning home and facing jail for embezzlement or an angry wife. Many choose Option B - they get shit-faced drunk and do a gainer off an upper floor.

That night, I checked the local news, expecting to see stories about it, but - nothing.
I asked about this the next day and was told, "It's bad for tourism. Tourism is the lifeblood of this city, every business is dependent on it one way or another. No TV newscast is going to mention it."

Same today as it was then.

Another example:
I was at MGM the night Tyson went cannibal on Holyfield, and tried to turn him into Van Gogh.
There were a lot of angry Tyson bettors there that night, wearing colors.
I saw craps tables overturned by gangsta's who then grabbed the chips and ran for the exits.
I heard the gunfire, so I KNOW it wasn't rumor or a false story.

Same thing - little coverage locally (the story was too big to be ignored, but coverage focused on the way the fight ended, not the riot afterwards), and none of my friends in NJ heard anything about the theft, fights, or gunshots, or the casino floor being cleared of people and closed down.

I asked some Vegas friends, "I get the local press burying the story, but the national press was there covering the fight. They saw what happened."
I was told, "Yes, they were here. Comped by the promoters for their ringside seats. Some of the major media outlets also get comped by the hotels for rooms, and tickets for dining and shows. If they go back to their home states and write stories that hurt tourism, you know what happens at the next big fight? No tickets from the promoters, no freebies from the hotels. So, they keep quiet."
